Jerry:

Just run up to the Muster site and back twice a day .... that should do it!

(I'll offer encouragement from my easy chair .....   ;)  )
Well, given the kind of shape I'm in right now, if I were to do that I'd fit nicely in a pine box in nothing flat.

When did this fine orginazation start allowing GAMERS in? Losing wieght, conditioning, wieght-lifting. Some poor unknowing heathen might actually think we take our competetion seriously. I for one intend to make my mark by dressing well and telling "sea stories" around the fire come sudown. Looking forward to seeing everyone in June. Al.

Lost 20 pounds since last summer myself. No family contest here, but wife lost <some> also, she's happy to be the size she was before she came to US, and had 2 kids. Overall, since she came here and took over the cooking, I've lost over 30lb. No fast food 3-4 days a week anymore!

Al, I fully intend to take part in fire sitting and sea stories myself!  We've had some pretty good ones over the last few years!

Oh that's the best part.  The shooting just makes the day go faster . . .

And I'm just making more room for the cooking!

I have two new uniforms/kits.

Main Match: 1898 Gatling Gun trooper on Cuba with Teddy's Rough Riders.
Expansion Era: US Army Infantry 1912, Camp Grant, Rockford, IL.

These are subject to change depending of availability of uniform components.

I'm trying to put a replacement forend on my Long Lee.  Man, I REALLY suck at inletting!  Y'all are going to have to promise not to laugh when you see it.  (Thank goodness for Acraglas!)

Ned, could you splice on a piece from an SMLE? I would think the barrel channel would be about the same.

I'm getting close to the shaping part, with the action/barrel inletted and the bands fitted.  The joints never come out nearly as well as I like.  The joint between the receiver ring at the wrist and the forend is especially ugly.  Makes me appreciate the guys that did the fitting originally all the more!  Incidentally, the barrel band location is wrong on the SMLE, but the one on the No. 4 is correct.  Who would have thought?!

Looks like I will be a good old CSA veteran turned scout and will be shooting my regular CAS guns this year. I am tempted to try my hand at militia and use my Model 94 just for kicks, but haven't played with loads for it yet. I know the 45 Colt is good for it.
What I WANT to do is shoot it with cap and ball some year, but this year isn't it.

DM, I shot the Expansion Era last year with my Mod 94 30-30, loaded with 165gr flat points, over 9 gr Trail Boss. Rifle was fine, knocked down the knockdowns just fine. Only reason it took all 50 rounds that I brought was-I forgot to change to my "shooting only" glasses and the front sight was virtually invisible.

We shall see. I had also broken off my front sight last year somehow, and have the new one on, but haven't gone out to sight it yet. If I get some time this long weekend, I might try to get some shooting done and try it out.
THanks for the recipe.

I have 170gr 30 cal bullets. Think the same load will work?

Just so you know, I use a '94 Saddle Ring Carbine with 170 gr. bullets over a case full of Trail Boss on the same targets at our local cowboy shoots.  Works fine!

Did some bullet casting today to make sure I have enough.  This should keep me in .50-70's for a day or two!  (That's about a third to a half of the overall production for today and yesterday.  Got to take advantage of the nice weather!)

I realize this is an old post, but I was wondering how do those decaf bullets do with black powder?
