Howdy pards;
Anyone use the Pocket Pro timers??
Which one would you recommend for practice?
The Pocket Pro or the Pocket pro II??
I printed out the specs on both to compare.
New unit has more storage but some reviews complained about the buzzer ?
Any preference?
Let me know.
Thanks

Well I went to Midway USA and printed out the 2 spec. sheets.
Looks like the 2 is just a better updated version of the original Pocket Pro.
Only complaint I see is that the II model doesn't seem have as good a buzzer.
Or that could just be opinions nor really comparison.

Any way I will be getting the PP II model.
Thanks for any input that you might have.

The PPII has bigger numbers and is much easier to read.

Buzzer is plenty loud.

Buzzer is the same.  I've used several of each model and can detect no difference in loudness of buzzer -- they sound exactly alike.

I prefer the second model because it displays a shot string in a more helpful way.  This is important when practicing because you quickly know where you are loosing time and, thus, where you need to focus practice.  I also think the controls are more intuitive (note: that is a RELATIVE not and absolute statement).

We use a lot of first generation models in clubs around here and they work well (except for the tendency for the battery door to fail).  But, I prefer the second gen.  It is easier to hang onto with it's smoothed profile.

My personal timer is a model II and I'd buy it again if I needed another.

Thanks Pards;
I will be ordering one this week.
I am going for the Pocket Pro II.
Found a couple videos on you-tube as well on both.
Doesn't seem to be any deals out there on them.
All are selling them for the same price. So I will look for the lowest shipping I guess.

There is now a bag available for the timer.  Some places throw in the bag if you buy the timer.  Whatever the situation, don't get the timer without the bag -- even if you have to pay for it.

Good point. I was going to order one tonight.
Guess the bag is good insurance for the timer.
May as well get the one made for the timer.
Thank;

I just got a PP-II in the mail that I ordered used (like new) from another shooter.  I didn't know anything about a bag, and didn't get one.  But I only paid $60 shipped!!  My first timer, gotta figure out how to use it now.  I found this thread while searching for the difference between a PP and PP-II.
I think I can find some sort of bag.  :)
