Well, I made my first one in 1995, have been shooting them since then. Until 2016, it was my only type of pistol, have since added two conversion cylinders for Remingtons. In all that time, I have had 1 chain fire that emphatically know was from poor fitting caps, have had 1 hangfire when I was experimenting with paper cartridges (have moved to Guns of the West kit, awesome) and periodically will use wonder wads, especially when shooting all day, I think they help keep fouling limited, some don't, either way, they fall in that category (paraphrasing Jack Elam), "Don't mind if I shoot, it makes me feel better". I seriously like the Colt design for cap and ball over the Remington, mainly the groves in the cylinder pin. I am not experienced with conicals, have always shot balls. That may not make me a guru, but like Tyrion, I drink coffee and know stuff.
