Colt Lightning 40-60-260 shooting Gophers
« on: June 12, 2019, 08:21:19 AM »

Whenever you get a rifle you need to get it out and shoot something with it. The problem with guns like this is you need to slug the bore, decide the right bullet diameter, cast those bullets, lube/size them and then see if they will shoot. If not, you start all over at the casting part.

I did get this to shoot minute of gopher, but I will need to get a larger mould and see if I can't get it to perform better. It slugged at .408, I sized these bullets at .410, but i'm not sure the bullets are large enough out of the mould to bet the best .410 size I need...

I never considered myself a failure...I started out at the bottom and happen to like it here!

That is such a cool rifle!  I've long admired Lightnings, but just can't justify the expense.  I'm glad that you actually use yours, then allow us to enjoy it with you.  I hope that you get a full mount of that gopher.  ;D

I are also wondering if that is a fairly "new" Butt Stock??  Tiz a really nice rifle.  I have Jealous on my nose.

Although, after having worked on so many failed reproduction Lightnings after their CAS resurrection, they give me nightmares.
