Cimarron Model P 44wcf
« on: June 10, 2019, 06:50:28 PM »
Any of you guys know any dealers that stock a lot of Cimarron guns? I am wanting a new Cimarron Model P 44-40 with a 5.5 inch barrel and with an old style frame and can?t seem to find one anywhere. Cimarron is out of stock on them so I was hoping somebody on here might be able to help me out  and know where one might be.....

3B Shooting Supply can do wonders. They're out of Kaufman, TX. Bryan Buck.

I'm in the process of buying one of these via layaway right now. Mine will be the Old Model frame, and I'm quite excited about it. I hope you like your Model P!

I think it does . I had to get it in charcoal blue because that is the only one I could find anywhere. I?ve never owned one with this finish so I hope I like it. May have to talk to you about a holster Cliff....

Charcoal Blue is my favorite finish!  Yes, it wears quicker but the wear looks great, too.  I don't own any Model P's in charcoal blue, just conversions, but a charcoal blue Cavalry model is on my short list!

Here's my older 44-40 Cimarron.

Yeah, I know those are 45 Colt cartridges in the pic  :D  That was back before I had a digital camera and the pic came from laying the gun and other items on a scanner and covering them with a silk scarf.  :)

I've heard of it but not personally had it happen. I guess I should knock on wood. The charcoal finish is not real durable but on a positive note it wears and ages beautifully.

I have on occasion heard of the holes developing a burr, but like Cliff, I have not experienced this myself and I don't think it is much to worry about.  I would not dry fire these without snap caps, though.

I would say that dry firing would the main cause of it...

Got my gun in today and WOW!! The charcoal blue is really beautiful. It does, in deed have the old style 4 click action. I do,however , have to figure out why my reloads won?t chamber all the way and try to fix that. Any suggestions from here???

Have you tried chambering an empty case?
Or tried a factory round?
Are  your reloads really "reloads" or just new rounds you loaded?
When I just started reloading a few hundred years ago,,I was loading  357 for S&W model 28,,Everything worked fine,,Then I got a Colt and my "reloads" that worked fine in the S&W would not fully seat in the colt chambers..About 1/8" from fully chambering in the colt..My problem was that I wasn't fully resizing my brass after firing them in the S&W. And while they still chambered fine in the S&W the colt chambers were tighter ..So if you are firing your rounds in a gun with a larger chamber than your new gun,, and you are not fully resizing them then this might be your problem..Easy fix= adjust your sizing die...
