Morning all.

21 and cloudy in Missoula today. Hasn’t been above freezing in a few days.   Odd for October, but it makes life more interesting.

This cold has been really rough. 102 fever for 40 hours, finally broke this morning. I took yesterday and today off from work. Back at it tomorrow.

We were grateful to recieve 12" of good wet snow yesterday and overnight out here in the Great Southwest .
More is coming, and we need all the moisture we can get. It is a high desert, after all.

I got the bird feeder and suet thingies filled, and we have a Flicker taken up residence in the flicker box on the side of the house!

I just turned on my Christmas lights, since I had not gotten around to taking them down.
Now, with the snow,  the porch looks more appropriate!

Good thing I live in town, not happy with the local flicker, SOB likes to beat it's head against the tree by our bedroom window about sunrise.   Woodpeckers have to be one of the dumbest birds in the world. ;D

Showing the rock I live under once again,  ::)  I did not know what a  Flicker  was ( assumed a bird ) having not heard of the term   :-\
had to look it up ...

Ah so !  The northern flicker (Colaptes auratus) or common flicker is a medium-sized bird of the woodpecker family.

Local electric company has a plastic box at the top of the pole in the yard, I believe it's some kind of transmitter for the meter readings. Anyway, there's a woodpecker here that just loves to pound on that thing. Makes at least double the noise of him pounding on a tree.

Local Peckers get in the rain gutter and search for insects in the trapped leaves. Since they are attached, the whole house buzzes and vibrates when they get to doing their thing. Like a mini-jackhammer on the metal gutters

Probably let’s you know if there are any hornet nests in the eaves though. ::)

First day back at work,  and first time above freezing in almost a week. Lots of mud and slushy snow. I got stuck three times, but managed self rescue with a shovel.

Lost another one, not a good year for my music taste, John Prine, Charlie Daniels, Jerry Jeff Walker and no Billy Joe Shaver.

. . . toy store toady . . .

That would make a great nickname for any gun enthusiast. Toy Store Toady.

Bacon, eggs, toast and candy corn for breakfast. Grandson pronounced it monstrously good!

Highs in the mid-60's all week.

Morning all.

36 and sunny in Missoula today.

My cold has resolved itself into two stand-alone entities: a sinus infection and bronchitis. Lucky me.

The Future-Mrs. and I are going to look at a house tomorrow. It’s just a 25 year old trailer on 1/4 acre in a “trailer village” (the difference between a trailer park and trailer village seems to be that the neighbors are slightly farther away, and a slightly higher level of white trash. Perhaps white recycling? I digress). It ain’t much, but it’s in our price range, and the mortgage will be half of what we pay for rent now, so we figure why not. In the future we can rent or sell it.

I bought the heater core but didn't get to it. It will be a multi-hour ordeal.  ::)
