cw pistol frogs usn
« on: May 16, 2021, 07:41:07 AM »
I was using a pistol frog while doing CW reenacting,   How long did the navy use a frog before going to holsters??.   Any patterns out there for frogs?  thanks.

The frogs stayed in service with the 1851 conversions until final disposal not long after 1900.  I believe the Colt 1889s were issued with a flap holster. So both types served side by side for quite sometime.  Older ships tended to have the older weapons.
Civilize them with a Krag . . .
