Shiloh Military Carbine
« on: December 19, 2020, 09:18:39 AM »
Is back in the catalog.  Yay!  Ordered one, stone stock except for a 24" barrel.  Specified the 1/36" twist, this will only see the government load.  18 month wait, save the money and enjoy the anticipation.  Doubt Goodman could get one of these any faster, being a new item.  My Chiappa will go up for sale when I get the Pay up letter, that'll help.

Life is good!

Hi Chuck

I looked online and the prince is right at $2000.00.  I need to re-barrel my Chiappa, but this might be cheaper.  Does the $2000.00 include the excise tax etc?

Thanks

Just get a Shiloh. You'll be glad you did. Heads and shoulders above any and all Sharps replicas. And I'd go through Bill Goodman....well worth his 200.00 fee.

Yeah.  I like my Chiappa, but there is simply no comparison to the Shiloh.  Make the order and start setting some money aside every month.  Functional artistry in steel.

Yeah, I'm torn though.  I want another Shiloh cause I sold the last one I had in 1992.  However, I don't really want the carbine.  I only want a carbine to play GAF with.  I don't really like the trap door that well, the Sharps action is better and stronger.  BUTTTTTTT I really want a Shiloh Sharps Buffalo gun, not a carbine.

Get what you want, life's too short to do otherwise.  Love my .50-70 Business rifle, I'll use it for long range at the Musters.  That'll both be competitive (I need all the help I can get) and disqualify me for the Overall, as you have to use the same rifle as skirmish to qualify.  I've won enough.  Besides, these things are like potato chips . . .

What happened to the barrel on your carbine?

It came from the factory with a wider than normal chamber.  You can drop a 405 grain bullet far enough down the brass that you can't see it.   I was having trouble working up a load.  I'm bad with irons, but not THAT bad.  I've had it past the warranty period.
