Tom Selleck westerns
« on: June 05, 2022, 06:26:38 AM »
While shopping at the local Wally world, I happened to find a 3 pack of Sellecks westerns for $7.50. It includes Monte Walsh, Crossfire Trail, and Last Stand at Sabre Creek.

I got it mostly for Monty Walsh, and wished it had Quigley, but it's a solid win any way you look at it.

I enjoyed all of those movies.  Rumor has it that Selleck has an extensive collection of his western movie memorabilia.

I bought the same 3-pack a couple of years ago. (smile)

Three of my favorites.  I have all three, as well as Quigley and one or two more of his lesser ones.

I have the same set and really enjoy those movies.  Wish it had included Quigley Down Under, would have been a perfect box set.

Selleck was popular back then.  But I think he's even more popular now, so if he were motivated somehow to make another western, it might help to draw a few more to the genre.  Yeah, he's maybe getting a little old for action stuff, but that's what stunt men are for.  :)

"The Shadow Riders" was one of his lone stinkers... ::)

Quigley is arguably his best....His Guns collection "Quigley", "Cross Fire Trail" and "Last Stand & Saber River" ( and I think his "Blue Bloods" Fitz Special are donated to the NRA and on display @ Calelas in Springfield Ark.
Which BTW,  is well worth the trip to see !!!! not to mention its FREE !

I agree on the The Shadow Riders.   It started well, and I will still watch the first 40 minutes or so, then turn it off.

Hi
I read The Shadow Riders Novel a few years ago.  The book is great.  Louis L'Amour wrote it.  the bad guy is especially bad, and one of the good guys is a retired pirate.

Crossfire Trail inspired me to do the buttstock shell carrier to go on my 1873 full stock and find the stag crown bowie. I originally built it like Rattlesnake Jack built his 1873 to resemble a 1876 NWMP carbine. I love the Schofield but didn’t care for the open top so I sold it back to the cowboy I got it from. Much too muzzle heavy for me to shoot as a duelist.

After watching "Quigley Down Under" for the umpteenth time, I wrote a screenplay that is a sequel to the movie. The sequel begins where Quigley Down Under ends. In this sequel, Tom Selleck would play Matthew Quigley's father and Laura San Giacomo would play Crazy Cora's mother. The sequel has a unique ending that ties in with the original movie's ending. it would really be great to get Tom Selleck's opinion and thoughts on a sequel to Quigley Down Under.

Not only is he a collector, he is also a "Natural Horseman", taught by Parelli.
