Krag parts source?
« on: November 18, 2020, 02:02:30 AM »
Rather unexpectedly, an 1898 Krag infantry rifle followed me home today.  I still need to tear it down and start cleaning the barrel, but I can already see I'll be needing some parts.  Is S&S still the go to place for Krag parts?  Anyplace else I should check?

Thanks,
Jim

Granpas is good, and don't forget e-Bay.  What parts does it need?

Thanks guys!

It is missing the stacking swivel and screw, hand guard, safety, and the extractor pin.  The magazine cutoff is non-functional, will probably have to replace that.  I'll have to remove the butt plate to open the trap door, not sure if that will need a spring replacement or not.  I'm guessing the cleaning kit is gone, but won't know til I get the butt place off.

Once I get it to the point I can safely shoot it, I'll figure out how far I want to go replacing parts.

Sarco has receivers $19.95 and Numrich has repurposed 1903a3 barrels threaded for the Krag for $130.00.

I used them to purchase what I was lacking for my Krag. Great to do business with and very helpful. They also have parts for several other makes as well.

Thanks again guys!

Gun show this weekend.  If I don't find the parts for the bolt (or swap off the rifle), I'll be sending an order out to Granpa.
