Evening all.

Currently 76 and trying to spit rain here in the Rockies. A nice reprieve from all the smoke.

Currently battling some fast food-induced food poisoning. Getting up to the 24 hour mark, and fever broke finally. Hoping I’m work-ready tomorrow, but I’m probably going to call in.

OK am leaving, I have always been impressed about how highly educated people can sometimes be so stupid, wife just went for the ride but ended up about a 1/4 mile from where I last left her.  Took over an hour for someone to be able to tell her the name of the building, not the part of the building.  ::)  Other problems the other day with someone finding us.  Map reading and general directions should be required by the end of grade school and half the time GPS are to get the ones lacking those basic skills more lost. :P

Calculator's took the education system by storm ...Kids don't get basic math stratifies , like the multiplication tables , and fractions...now all they use is a Calculator.....
collage students, even Young adults can't make change or balance a bank account :o

GPS is doing the same to travel destinations ... enter where you need to go , and it talks you there and if it is wrong !  off a  pier into a lake , and the STUPID's drive in  following it blindly ....

Evening all.

Today is pretty clear, all things considered.

Was awoken this morning at 7:30 by some loud noises, followed by other loud noises, followed by more loud noises. Soon thereafter there were many sirens,  a crime scene investigator, and my porch became a tie off for police tape/where they stored the camera equipment. Still don’t know what was going on, as they weren’t very forthcoming with information. The investigator did recommend keeping the door locked and the weaponry at hand.

Why is it , when you say HUH !....they repeat it in ever hush tones  ???  and then get annoyed
If I had heard or completely understood,  I would not have said HUH !

My Granddad , used to say ..." Shot who, in the crack of the fence ? "  ;D

Or they decide to explain it rather than repeat it is close to what they said the first time because it can't be that you didn't hear, you have to be stupid.   The fact you were 2 rooms away doing dishes with the water running when they opened their mush mouthed pie hole can't be why. ::)

What had been 3-4 weeks of quiet tropic weather, now has produced two Storms.
Fred will wash the Keys and then slip on by well west of Central Florida it seems now.
We may get some showers associated with it, but unlikely to be an event beyond normal Thunder storms we are accustom to.

Grace, however is likely to track closely , though somewhat differently to the path Fred is taking through the Gulf .
It may even hit South Florida before it scrapes the west coast,  may only be a wet Thursday or Friday...
Still I take notice and monitor both, as sure as Sh*t can happen  :o

Plans today are habitual LGS visit ( I was there yesterday to identify & appraise a Arisaka  Type 38 )
Prolly have lunch at the favorited Catfish Place...

Beyond that nothing is set in concrete  :)  I'm the breeze   ;D as it were

Afternoon all.

75 as of noon, expecting 95 before the day ends.

We went to a horse jumping show this morning. Watched the 9-13yo riders class. Amusing to watch, and they seemed to be enjoying themselves. Got home and did the monthly dust removal and lubrication of the carry gun, now just waiting on the coffee pot to finish.

Next week, Uncle Sam is sending me to Helena for the week to do some training for our upcoming firefighting stint. It’s a pay cut from my civilian job, but at least I get some per diem out of it.

2 days of blue sky and white stars, breathing much better.   Lazy worthless step daughter used our car today, was supposed to bring 20 pounds of ice back.  Said it would melt by the time she ran to Omaha and back. ::)  Didn't mean to buy it when she gassed it up with my card, meant to stop on the way back.  Just ran and got 20 pounds again for Rita's ice thing.   Took cardboard to recycle stop, things are full, next nearest one is 4 miles away and may be full, said fornicate it and put it with the rest piled up.  Glad to do my part but damn make it easy for me. ::)

Had some brutal hot weather the last couple of days,Heat index around 106. Today was better, 88 degrees, felt like 92. Going shooting tomorrow, heat is supposed to break overnight and tomorrow will be a high of 78 with much lower humidity and dew point.
Oh, and our miserable excuse of a governor resigned.

Afternoon all.

Smoky and mid 80s here today. Going to help feed equestrians later because of smoke.

In other news, I got a good deal on an upper for an AR today. It’s a 7” pistol upper in 300 Blackout. Came with the bolt carrier, charging handle and 10 magazines. I hadn’t really planned on building an AR pistol, but I’m easily persuaded in that area.

I have some 105 cast Kieth bullets for my Charter. I haven’t gotten them loaded yet. I only have  W231 at the moment. I also can’t go test any loads because of fire restrictions.

As of today I am in Helena, learning to fight fires. Again. Uncle Sam said so. Today was 9 hours of PowerPoint training. I learned absolutely nothing, but I got paid $18/hour for it, so I guess I have that.

I use 105 grain bullets in both my rifle and pistol. Try 3.0( Three point zero) grains as a starting point in .38 special cases, should be a nice mid range load.

Slowly working in the kitchen, I will have it under control soon.   Local hospitals are cutting off elective surgery, so likely her other knee one will not happen in Oct and probably no chance of getting this artery in my heart fixed after the first of the year.

Got another one of those situations with who's rights are more important, yours by not getting vaccinated or mine to have a room at the hospital when I need it but can't because you have COVID because you didn't get it.   Yes some get it anyway but most of those don't require a hospital because they are mild like anyone should realize what would happen. ::)  Running about 10-1 vaccinated vs unvaccinated.

Of course the people saying it should be mandatory also screw things up because damn, we know most of us don't like being told what to do.   To many extremists and less and less with common sense and the SOB's vote. ::)

I think I handled one of those SA 911s in my LGS, seemed like putting the safety in the off position pinched the web of my hand, on one side or the other. I think it was the "left handed" safety, the one on the right side. As in pinched hard enough I could let go of the grip and it would just hang there. Maybe I just have fat hands?

Spearmint went well, was like by all, instead of adding the Lea and Perrins to the broth/gravy after browning the patties in the cast iron at 500F in the oven and draining most the grease I poured a good splash over each patty and the excess drained on to the hot iron and has the most fantastic Malliard Reaction before I added the broth and corn starch.  Most beautiful brown gravy you ever seen, down side, clean up was a bit more but worth the price. ;D

I love when done asking them how the anchovy dish was because they both love it and have to admit they aet anchovies.   Note Lea and Perrins still makes it right, some of the inferior brands have dropped them.

And our crazy Mayor is going to mandate masks again and I likely ain't going to comply because they drop my O2 level after a while and the next SOB that gives me the old crap about it don't is going to get my O2 meter shoved up their ass.   It causes me problems. pine smoke from mismanaged forests catching one fire does and I have had the best week I have had in about 3 years and this time I can't send my wife to do the grocery shopping because of her knee.  And on-line shopping sucks, half the stuff I want ain't on the on-line lists.

I got my vaccination and it's because I wanted it, not that anyone said I should.    And if it don't save me so be it, I don't want to live the time I have left doing this shit.

Any damn fool can see half the problem was the old mandatory thing, the SOB's knew damn good and well that would be like the proverbial red flag in front of a bull.

I'm to the point I consider anyone belonging to any of the 3 parties are part of the problem not the solution, people like me that never belonged scare the hell out of them, the ones that leave also do but not quit to the extent because party brainwashing takes years to go completely away.

mid 50s and sunny this morning. Smoke has cleared out a bit, still a little hazy, but now it just smells like Missoula.

On the agenda today: get to run up to Seeley Lake for the third day in a row. I like the area, but it gets a little tiresome driving that road so frequently in a big truck.

Here in a few minutes, I’m heading to the court house to notarize and submit an application to be a reserve deputy sheriff. I’ve got a shoe in, having a friend from the Guard who is a full time deputy. End goal is to be involved with the search and rescue team and SWAT medic program.

Thanks John, this is one time I wish everyone would have used common sense and kept politics out of it.  We've all been vaccinated so I ain't worried, the few that get it after being vaccinated pretty much have mild cases as expected, I worry about the stupidity that it has created or maybe reviled.   I listen to my Drs and no one else, not no political Dr in DC and not the Internet Drs.   If some of the rumors were true we wouldn't have a Harley rider left. ;)

Odd that the Major would mention lightning. I came close to getting zapped today as well. I was pumping a tank while a storm was rumbling away over the ridge. It was raining hard, but even soaking wet my hair stood up. I tossed the hose, and ducked down on one foot. The lightning blew up a tree less than 100 feet away from where I was making like a flamingo.

In other news, I changed a headlight on a Kenworth in the rain this morning. This involved driving 4 miles to a dealer, meeting a logging company owner, and getting hailed on.

I had not been in one in maybe 18 years  :-\  , back when I was with Universal Studios Film Productions.
I figured, I might rekindle a taste memory...  Girls are still cute , food was eh !  wasn't the same as I remembered
Probably should have skipped it  ::)

Looking like rain off and on all day

Woke up this morning and just laid in bed, didn't move, no idea what wrong, I could breath with no congestion and not a thing hurt, laid there for at least an hour enjoying it till no choice I had to get up and pee.  Sat on the couch and still the same, even asked Rita if I looked ok and she said I really did, but slowly it all cam back, still a good day but was nice while it lasted. ;D

Morning y'all.
Coffee and iced tea are hot.

More rain overnight. Ground's a bit soggy.

'Tis 72, humid and partly cloudy. "Humid. Partly sunny. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning. Highs in the lower 80s. West wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent."

Thunderstorm last night, humidity is up and all that, hurt again, back to normal.   Saw a thing the other day, some over paid researcher had done a study that he decided that people with chronic pain tend to learn to ignore a lot of it over the years.    Someone ought to break both his knees for actually getting paid to decide that.

Come to another conclusion the other day, Rita wanted something from the clown shack, 2:30 in the afternoon and it took 20 minutes to get through because it was so busy.  Yes they can't hire enough people because people are lazy and don't want to work but they wouldn't need so many of people weren't to lazy to fix their own food once in a while. ::)  Interesting theory.

Morning all.

Supposed to warm up in the Five Valleys today, with forecasted highs around 90.

Yesterday I witnessed not one, but two individual car wrecks. Both caused by distracted drivers not realizing traffic had stopped ahead of them.  The first one the guy pinballed between the guard rail and other cars, which made a mess of an already busy street. Fortunately nobody was hurt. The second was in front of our house, and happened right as I was bringing jade back from playing in the river. Again, nobody was hurt, but the kids in the car behind the wrecked ones were pretty shaken up. Since they couldn’t  get around the obstruction, they had time to pet the dog, which helped.
