Got some good stuff from them over the years.  Another sutler gone.  Last orders by July 1.
Civilize them with a Krag . . .

Back in my reenacting days, George Lomas was at just about every major event in sutler row.
I first met him at Olustee in 82 or 83 I guess... Lomas Bros. must stop shop.

My 1899 US army uniform came from them.
Sad to hear they are done. :'(

So...that leaves us with WHO? for repro uniforms BEFORE Span-Am War?  Who else makes a 1872/1881 Mounted Dress Coat?  The site known as "USHist" seems to be about to go under, as well.  - Yes, I am looking towards possibly attending next year's Muster...maybe.   I have the 1881 Field uniform - but would like to play "dress up" as well....

Sad.  The last few years while working for James Country, I saw the small mom and pop venders retire and no one pick up their business.  The tin smith was going to give his equipment and business away and no takers. They lost a tin smith, candle maker, leather worker, wood worker and others, forcing them to bring in more foreign made stuff, which they don’t like.

I've known Andy Falks (Fall Creek) 40+ years , the Lomas Bro's about the same.
I recall I bought my first Federal enlisted Cavalry shell from the Quartermaster Shop in 1979-80
I think it was owned by Jeff O'Connell then.

Hi
C&C Sutlery in Idaho took over from their parents a few years ago.  Their stuff is good.  They are starting on Indian War Stuff and have a Mexican war Kepi??  Wheel hat for sale and carry a few of What Price Glory's older stuff.

The same unfortunate trend afflicts the Colonial re-enacting community, whose vendor ranks have thinned beyond belief. :'(
