I had one # 36 in the first run... a beauty too!
Well, as it sometimes happens, something comes along your interests and passions deviate and perhaps you do something you might later regret.  :-\
Such was the case, I traded mine off .... I'm sure at the time I was quite down with and content with the trade...
I don't recall what it was I traded for,  ::)  and in way I wish I had the Capt. Schaffer back.

I just don't have the patience for cap'n'ball but have been tempted a few times to snag one of those and put a Kirst Konverter in it.  They sure look great!

yes I do and it is a fun gun to shoot. Mine have been worked over by a now retired Gun Plumber and are a joy to use. Not safe queens but working guns. right now shooting an1861 Navy but they may be next.
A pair with numbers in sequence pretty neat

Mine too was massaged by said retired gun plumber.
In fact, he bought a pair he also tuned, we were both smitten at the same time, with the new Pietta, when they were first offered.

A few years later, I was involved in a flurry of swaps, trades and specific collection adjustments.
Another area of my Gun-a-holic ailment, are Milsurps, in particular capture & bring backs.
I believe it was in quest in that area, the Capt. Schaffer was traded.  :-\

 :)  HEY EVERYBODY  ;)

Heck Rio, asking about 'em after you've already laid out the folding green??  Silly!!  But anyway, as afore mentioned, I do have a Pair of Pietta Capt. Schaffer Replicas.  I was smitten when they were first announced and immediate placed an order.  My pair are consecutive and I really really really like 'em.

Shortly after I scored the Schaffers, I ordered up a pair of Old West Reproductions (R&D) conversion cylinders for 'em.  I shoot 38Spl with 148Gr Hollow Base Wadcutters and get fine accuracy.  Along with the afore mentioned action work I also opted for Slix nipples and as .36 Cap Guns they are also superb!!

I highly recommend 'Em.  Super fun guns.

Has or is EMF producing any of the Capt Schaffer's in a longer barrel like a 5.5"-6.5"? Don't really care if it isn't accurate historically to some original, just like a longer barrel and loading lever on my percussion revolvers. A 44 caliber would be even nicer such as the 1851 Navy 44 produced by Pietta which I understand and have read make some or all of EMF percussion revolvers.

No, the Capt Schaffer is only in the 3 1/2" and 36 Cal. to replicate the original.
Pietta does or did offer a few other Lazer engraved models....

FYI, the reason "Pietta makes some or all of EMF percussion revolvers" is
after the owner/ President of EMF passed away, Alberto and Alessandro Pietta of F.LLI Pietta (Italy) stepped up to invest in EMF, and Debbie Sims, former Chief Operating Officer, stepping up as the new President/CEO.  Since Pietta Firearms is EMF’s largest supplier, this was a "win/win” for both companies.

While pretty, I'd think you'd want some kind of a cheater tube to put over that nub of a loading lever to give you some needed leverage.

Boyd Davis aka General Grant was the owner and founder of EMF. He was also owner of the Great Western Arms Company. Boyd was a friend of mine that I first met when I was buying guns for the theatrical company that I was in circa mid 1970s. he was also a founding member of SASS (#2) and one  of the original "Wild Bunch".

 :) Crow Choker  ;)

No.  The Schaeffer is only offered with a 4 inch barrel.  Half inch longer than the original.

HOWEVER:

In light of your expressed desire, I suggest a little peruse of the EMF Web Site, and you're looking for the 1851 "Marshal" laser engraved, Old Silver finish (Polished steel, Heat Treated) with 5 1/2 Inch barrel.  Really really NICE guns.

INDEED!
Back when the Capt Schaeffer was not available, I picked up a used Marshall in .44 and a spare barrel to boot,
I started the project, cut one barrel down to 3.5 " , named it the Sargeant Shultz Colt and set it aside due to a plethora of reasons.....

Now that we have moved into our new-to-us larger house ( everybody us is downsizing, but we do things backwards)
I just found my Sargeant Schultz packed in a box with my Sharps project, and am now inspired again!

I decided I will put a latch on it reminiscent of the 1847 dragoon "just because" ... then need to shop for fake ivories...

Indeed, I have not had mine for several years now, and forgot that 1/2" barrel tidbit.  ???
I do however still have the 3" Dexter and the 7 1/2" barrel as well.

Ah yes!!!! thanks Mr Coffin! Forgot about that Marshall hogleg. Yesterday when I did search I did so by typing EMF Firearms. The EMF website didn't show the Capt Schaf or the Marshall. When typing a searching EMF Capt Schaf I found several EMF sites that showed it. Like the longer barrel of the Marshall, bet that short lever on the Capt would be a bugger to seat balls with, necessitating some attached lever of some king and/or a good pair of leather gloves.

Found the US Marshall EMF by typing it in as a search also. The EMF website that did come up showed all of the various Marshall models 'not in stock at this time'. 5.5" barrel and 44 caliber included in models. That got me semi-drooling! Several of the models are indicated as "1851 Navy Dix US Marshall" while others omit the "Dix". No explanation between the difference. Anyone know?
