Slugged the 40 60 uberti
« on: December 27, 2022, 12:05:45 PM »
Found the bore to be .404. and a 1 in 22" twist. I didn't figure it would have a slow twist 1 in 40" like the originals. So , I have a couple bullet choices that ought to work. I have a 275 gr bullet that measures .405 and a 245 gr bullet that measures . 406  I figure one of these two will work, hopefully both. I'll be shooting black powder with the bullets cast 1 to 20. I hope I'll be able to get at least 55gr in the case.
This fast twist solves the problem as to where I'm going to find a 210 bullet!

Managed to smash 4 cases out of 20 in the bullets seating process. ::) Need to use a bit mare flare.

More flare is the standard remedy. Over flaring can lead to split necks. I try to flare case mouthed "just enough" and then remove it from the press and carefully fit the base of the bullet by hand then place it back in the press to complete seating.
