It looks like it is the part that screws into the side of the breech on a sidelock.

To convert a flintlock to percussion all you have to do is drill out the flinter's touchhole and thread it  for that little gizmo.  Remove the flint cock and replace it with a percussion style hammer and "Robert's yer Fathers Brother".

Often cheap reproduction percussion arms are made that way from the get-go; - savin' money!

Phil;  do you have a flintlock that needs modernizing ???
