Piettas from Shot Show
« on: February 09, 2024, 08:34:42 AM »
Photos from 2024 Shot Show. If these examples are what we can expect from Pietta in the future, they are gonna be selling a lot of them, just because of the color case hardening.

I think you are spot on... very nice. The new Pietta's just might float my boat  :)

I have just two SAA anymore, the 2014 SS Bob James Uberti in 45colt.
and a 2012 Colt in 32/20 the last year COLT offered that caliber.

I had resigned myself to pass on new Model P's, not wishing to deal with the retractable FP of the new Uberti's.
I probably won't go the exurbanite cost of USFA's nice as they are.... :-\

Standard's offering has QC issues and also costly, so they aren't even on my radar.

when planets align...do the deal !

The color case hardening looks amazing. I don't like the horse & rider very much but it wouldn't prevent me from buying. I just don't see a need for a pony on an old model black powder frame since the original Colt did not have that, except for a short time in the 1890's.

Agree they are a step up, and the CCH is great, but has anyone seen a price?  I haven't seen anything on them other than cursory mentions in Shot Show reviews....

Well, if they are like a lot of Shot Show roll-outs, we might be lucky to see them available this year.  Whatever the case, might be worth the wait and price.  :)

Hopefully something other than 45Colt and 357Mag, like 38-40?

I think 44-40 is the only wcf caliber Pietta makes, so that would be unlikely.  But maybe they will see the light?  :)

These guns were posted about on the Colt Forum. I believe that is where I heard they will only be available in .45 Colt and .357 Magnum and the msrp will be around $1000. There are some videos on Facebook too.

Since it was historically the second most popular/produced chambering I would think a 44 WCF (marked Frontier Six-Shooter) would be a good third choice in caliber.

 :) Well . . . .

The problem is market share.  Unfortunately, the Market for CAS guns is shrinking.  Without a ready market for a profitable number of guns, many calibers will not be offered as the manufacturers cannot amortize the machine cost/time.  Unless of course you don't mind $2500 a copy??

True, but they should realize those of us who put our collections together 20 or 30 years ago cant justify another 45colt but have money to spend. I currently have 5 bp frame 4 click ubertis in 45 but would jump all over a pietta in any wcf caliber.
