Colt's SAA is a great CAS pistol !
« on: November 23, 2011, 04:48:35 PM »
Shot Colt's pistols in competition for the first time last weekend.

I could not believe how quickly they moved from target to target.  Dang, those things are light and fast.

They should have invented that pistol sooner.  I've been using Rooooogers and USFAs all those years.  Glad Colt's came out with this model.

Given that it first came out in 1873 - and everyone tried to copy them since - I'd say they were invented early enough...

Well stated, Pard. ;)

My pair of Colts with dual cylinders are the perfect choice for CAS. The 44-40 cylinders for BP work And the 44 special cylinders for 44 russians, 44 colt & 44 special.

Outstanding Sir!

It's a coincidence that you should mention this because I saw someone the other day that was actually shooting Colts pistols!!! That really blew my freakin mind!

That's a great thing Sir, and I find Colt shooters on the internet, but seeing it in person is rare. The last time prior to the recent sighting of someone actually shooting real Colts was over 2 years ago.

I hear ya Shotgun and good on you for packin a Colt for the real deal! And speaking of that- seeing someone in person carrying a Colt for the real deal or as a duty weapon is rarer than hens teeth. As this long dead old timer I knew used to say- "Put your money where your mouth is and pack a Colt!"

Nowadays the theme seems to be that buying a Colt means paying for the name and getting maybe equal or less quality................Oh really?!

I dunno about that.  I've gotten a couple of their gunz recently and the machining, fit, and finish are as good as any available.  Too bad the custom shop is overwhelmed with 1911 production this year.  No, new 1873 coming out for several months now.

And, by the way, several guys shoot Colt's down here in the Southwest.  There are always a few at every match.

The current Single Action Armys are fully the equal to, if not better than the much-sought-after Second Generation revolvers.

Their QC problems came about at a time when the old machinery was failing, and when the UAW purchased the facilities - leading to a difficult learning curve for some workers.

Colt fixed that problem a couple of decades ago...

They're both a Colt Custom Shop revolver 'and' a helluva shooter, too.
