Hi I'm Major and I'm a gunoholic   :P

The Garand got a new to it correct Walnut stock ( replaced the circa mid 1950's Birch stock it had }.

I also got a little companion for it in the form of a Colt Commando complete with Colt factory letter
one of 4 revolvers sent to the Hood Rubber Company Div. of BF Goodrich for WWII war time service.
The serial number indicates it was one of the last 400 made.
 
At the beginning of the First World War in 1914, the Company was called upon to supply trench boots for the French and English armies. The pressure cured rubber boots proved to be especially adaptable for the wet and muddy environment of trench warfare. During the Second World War, it was enlisted by the United States Armed Forces to manufacture many types of rubber products, especially military boots for both the Pacific and European theaters.

Howdy Major,

IMHO your Garand looks 100% better with the Walnut stock.

Last time I fired a M-1 Garand was in 1959 in boot camp at Fort Leonard Wood.

Thank you John.... I agree the birch stock was not correct for the circa 1944 Springfield Armory action... birch was much later about 1955-60.
I'm impressed with Dupage Trading Co.s  stock, they supply stocks to the CPM for their Service Grade + rebuilds...

The stock was only $130 shipped - fit & finish was perfect .  I suggest checking out Dupage they have Krag - M1 carbine parts from time to time.

I beat being a gunaholic with the help of my young daughter years ago..

When she was just a wee tyke,, she never said she wanted anything for her birthday or Christmas..
She never "wanted" anything..
But she "NEEDED" dern near EVERYTHING she seen on TV or in the stores!!!
So it really isn't  that I WANT another gun,,,It's I  NEED  another gun!
Now if I could just come up with an answer to ,,, what this gun will do that my other guns can't????

I really like the classic Colt look but not being a .357 fan I prefer bigger so when I bought my classic Colt DA I bought a s/s Anaconda in .45lc. I used it as a bowling pin match gun along with a 625 Smith in 45acp when I played that game.  Colt used to build some great wheel guns.

The NEW Colt Python is flying off the shelves even here in Kanuckistan. Affordable and  shootable.

I just acquired a unique "Canada ONLY" S&W Performance Centre  6 shot .357 with 5" barrel. Similar to the 686 SSR but with a "Raptor" engraved on the frame and "Rappy" on the barrel.

Can't find out anything as to who ordered the run and it's not a catalog item.

Did I need it? No, but I couldn't resist it at the price, well under the other Performance Centre models. Not competitive for IPSC revolver class where the majority are moonclipped 7-8 shots guns.

I love the .357/.38 but I am keeping my eye out for a .44 mag, Anaconda or maybe a S&W 29.........here we go agin!! ::)

Hey There Major Two,

 ;D  Atz a really really nice Tooth Pic    :D   At a point in the 20th Century, there was great debate over Bayonets.  Not for the use or the Fear Factor.  Length.  It was pointed out to the ruling military junta, the human body is only about 10inches thick.  Why were we (the military) toting around a 2 foot Bayonet??  And so with infinite wisdom, those gorgeous, elegant, two foot Bayonets went away.  Somehow, I feel we've suffered a great loss  ::)
