The Arapaho Kid

I just got a braded horsehair hatband like the one in the picture.  The colors there are slightly off.  The light color is an off white...not yellow.  My question here is.....do I put those tassles in the back, or in the front like a cavalry officers hatband?  Or...is this an individual thing and anyone can wear them front, or back?

Arapaho,

I have seen them worn front, back, and both sides, I do not think it will make much of a difference.

I only shoot to support my reloading habit.

Well....seeing as how there's no hard, fast rule about this...I think I'll experiment around with it.  Front, back, either side?  Some of the boys over in TFS seem to think the tassles should be on the left side like the regular ribbom band that usually comes with a hat.  I'll just play it by ear for a while and see what happens.  Thanks guys!

I wear mine on the left to cover up the ribbon.

The hat it's going on is a Stetson Safari type hat.  Flat top and a 3 1/2 inch brim wirh no cowboy type roll in it.  It came with one of those folded Puggaree bands and that's gone.  I think the Stetson will hold up better if it rains.  My other hat...the Billy Jack one is not fur felt.  It's wool felt and that doesn't hold up in wet weather too well.  I live in the Pacific Northwest and we do get a little rain up this way!

Hat band like that are traditionaly worn on the left side and are used to keep the hat from getting out of shape.  But these days they are used mostly for decoration.

Put it where you like it the most.  If it makes you happy then you got it in the right place.   :)
