In Memory of Augustus Tate

Folks,

I received some sad news this am from Wild Bill Blackerby:

A fellow shooter, Don Tetreault (Augustus Tate) from Southampton, Massachusetts  died suddenly from an apparent heart attack Friday afternoon (Dec 17).

Gus was a member of Lincoln County Lawmen, NRA, SASS#280 and NCOWS #188.

I wish Augustus Tate HAPPY HUNTINGS in the GREAT HUNTINGFIELDS.

This makes a very solemn holiday in N.E., Gus was a well loved and respected pard who was very instrumental in starting CAS up here.
It's been said he and his wife Miss Tate were Royaly - and such they were.  Gus will be sorely missed. :'(

Donald A. Tetreault
1937 - 2004
SOUTHAMPTON - Donald A. Tetreault, 67, a longtime resident died Friday at Holyoke Hospital. He was born in Holyoke, March 5, 1937, son of the late Albert and Leona (Pete) Tetreault and was a graduate of the former Holy Rosary High School. Mr. Tetreault was a Shipper and Receiver at the Specialty Looseleaf Co. in Holyoke, the former National Blank Book for 37 years. After retirement he worked part-time as a courier for Baystate MRI, where his daughter Sandy is the office manager. Don was an avid outdoorsman all his life, he loved to hunt, fish and hike, especially in the woods with his dogs, first Harrigan and later Shamu. He co-founded and was very active in the North East Mountain Men, a group of men dedicated to recreating the fur trade era, he was a Booshway for over 20 years. He was active in Civil War re-enactments for many years where he met one of his best friends, Rick Hendricks, who pre-deceased him. He then co-founded Cowboy Action Shooting Club in Western Mass with his best friend Greg Colelli. He competed in this hobby right through theend of this season. He was awarded the first Spirit of the Game Award at the Mass State Championship this past summer, something he was very proud of. He was also a Range Officer at the Westfield Sportsman's Club. Don was an accomplished woodworker and furniture maker, making many pieces for his own home. He also worked with leather, making holsters, belts and beaded Indian garb. He was a wonderful husband, father and friend. He is survived by his wife Barbara (Klisenbauer), two sons David and his wife Andrea of Moorsville, PA, and Donald Jr. and his wife Leona of Clifton Park, NY, two daughters Sandra Dubois and her husband David of Holyoke and Suzanne Crehan and her husband Michael of Vienna, VA, one sister Jeanne Gibbard and her husband Graham of Evergreen CO., 8 grandchildren, Stacey, Don III, John, Emily, Alexa, Daniel, Benjamin and Richele. Funeral services will be Tuesday 8:45AM from the Messier Funeral Home 1944 Northampton St. Holyoke, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10AM in Notre Dame Church in Easthampton. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery in South Hadley. Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday 2-4PM and 6-8PM. Memorials In his memory to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688 or the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
