How far do you normally drive to shoot?
« on: October 20, 2004, 10:29:55 PM »
Just curious to see how far (or how long it takes) most folks drive to their normal monthly matches.  I feel pretty lucky living in Jackson, TN.  I have any of three clubs I can drive to easily and they all shoot on different weekends! Memphis, TN (1 hr 15 minutes), Byhalia, MS (1 hr 45 minutes), and now a new one in Union City, TN (1 hr 30 minutes).

No prize for the longest drive - just wonderin.  ;)

When I'm able to go to a local shoot, about 5 miles one way.

Got 2 matches about 25 miles, one about 35, and one at about 65.

Our local match is a 45 minute drive. There are others 2-3 hours away, but we don't get to them on a regular basis.

54 miles. Takes me a little over an hour to get there and the return trip is closer to 2 hours.

2 matches within 15 minutes
2 other matches within an hour
2 others within 2 hours
a whole bunch more within 3 -4 hours.

We almost always go to the all four of the ones that are under an hour.  The others depend upon how we feel when wake up in time to go.  :D

We've got a whole bunch of matches in relatively easy driving distance. Saturday I'll be driving about 20 minutes to the closest one. There's a whole bunch that are within 1 1/2 hours away. The farthest that I regularly attend is 2 hours away. That's where I draw the line. Just gotta get up to durn early to go any farther.
That’s bad business! How long do you think I’d stay in operation if it cost me money every time I pulled a job? If he’d pay me that much to stop robbing him, I’d stop robbing him.

Home range is a 40 minute drive, 2 more clubs are right at an hour away, and another club is 1 1/2 hours away.

30-90 minutes each way to get to any one of 5 clubs with ranges.

Miles are meaningless in SoCal, as 70 miles might take about an hour, while 10 miles might take 3 hours.
Depends on time of departure and the overall idiot population on the road.

My home CAS range is 42 miles from here, so 45 min in the Summer and much longer in the Winter depending on the conditions.

I have a local rifle range I practice at weekly that is only 8 miles away, about 10-15 min.

I try to whoot every month at Wenatchee - 145 miles and two mountain passes each way, but the folks there are worth the trouble to shoot with and they tolerate me which is sayin a bunch.
