Does they attach to the waist belt or up on an over the shoulder strap?  Any back views of it available?  Looks like two different cases are being shown. How are the buckle & straps used on the bottom one?  Where are the photos from?

Go over to Ebay, that is where I got mine, last year, for about $20.  I saw one just yesterday Buy Now for $40.  on mine the the holes had to be enlarge a little.  Made in Pasistan, but well constructed.

When Snapshot asked for cartridge boxes, that is the one I mentioned, but could not post a picture of it.  Never did see in Snapshots original posting where he only wanted pictures of a Blakeslee box.  It surprised me that no one posted a picture of one of these as an alternative.

I also thought about a Dyer box but it is outside of my NCOWS Originals persona time point.

They have belt loops on the back, and if a shoulder strap is used, the buckles on the bottom are use to attach it.  There is a small front pocket used for a combination tool.  You can see it below the block on the front view.

I went to Ebay and bought a "Spencer Carbine Cartridge box" replica that holds (20) 56-56 or 56-50s for $35.  It is longer and not quite as high as a standard Sharps (etc) carbine box.  It is made specifically for the Spencer, and it looks virtually identicle to the one above, and one I saw on a 2nd Mass website.  I already have the standard carbine box I use for the paper cartridge sharps, but it is too deep to use with the block and Spencer cartrdgessss.  I used it carrying them loose for that reason.  Now I will have the appropriate Spencer Box.  If only I could convince the the 2nd Mass. to do 11864 instead of 1863!  They carried Sharps until april of 1864 when they switched to Spencers.

  I will contact the seller and see if he has more of these Spencer specific boxes.  Much easier than a Blakeslee. though not as many rounds <g>

Hey, TL, a little OT here, but I have a question about that Marlin article in the last CC. The 1889 pic looked like there was a chunk out of the comb of the stock. Is there? or was that a print error?.......Buck

There was a chunk out of it... A BULLET HOLE!  a bullet entered the comb at an angle  just in front of the shooters nose, and exited over his shoulder.  I love to know the story.  Unfortunately that sold along with all my antique guns to pay for my daughters wedding.

Speaking of bullet holes...
I had a Theodore Meana "Visalia" Saddle . It was a relic tree mostly.
Picked it up in Hondo, Texas for restoration in an old barn sale.
The bullet hole was in the seat area at the top of the left bar and pass across the opening to the right bar just about were the riders crotch would be.

I found the bullet once the dry and rotten learher was removed imbeded about 1/4" in to the Right bar . It looked to be small caliber
maybe 32.

I've restored maybe 5 Visalia's I wonder what this one's story was
