Title: History of Springfield Trapdoors in November Issue of American Rifleman
Post by: River City John on October 23, 2023, 12:24:06 PM
Just received my November issue of "American Rifleman" and there's a very nice article on history of Springfield Trapdoors. With nice photos of evolution of models over it's development.

They did a story on that subject years ago.  I saved my copy.  Great photos!

OK, I'm a little dense.  Aside from the chronological problem (2023 -1865=158) what is the error?

Not sure it'd be a goof,
but the 1911 pictured in the "Savage take on the 1911" might should have pictured the 45 ACP Savage  :-\

A good article, but it stopped a bit short-no mention of the "so called" 1889 version, with the rod bayonet.
