Dept. of Missouri/Div. of Iowa
« on: July 21, 2020, 08:51:25 PM »
To All, The Division of Iowa and Dept. of the Missouri matches are going to take place the weekend of Sept. 26-27. The Dept. match will be held at Big Springs range outside of Searsboro on the 26th. The Div. match will be held at the Goddard Cowboys range near Colfax on the 27th. Due to conditions earlier in the year we had to postpone the Dept. match scheduled for April. We were able to combine this with the Div. match, so you get two matches in one weekend. Both matches will have two skirmish stages, precision pistol, and precision rifle. On Sat. at the Dept. match a 500 yd. side match is also on tap. Each match is no miss and round count is 35+ rifle/15+ pistol for the skirmish stages and 20/10 for precision. Fees are $30 per match or $50 for both days. Lunch will be provided on Sat. There are plenty of motels in Grinnell (12 mi. from Searsboro-30 from Colfax) or Newton (24 mi. from Searsboro/ 10 mi. from Colfax). Camping is available at the Colfax range. Looking forward to seeing you in Sept. Al

Looking forward to seeing everyone again. Iowa seems to be a little more relaxed on mandates and such. Don't see any complications at this time. Al

Pretty much spent most of year in hiding! Attended 3rd match of the year this weekend, (Ruckus), by lunch, visited car, changed footwear & took an Advil. Shot 7 stages on Saturday. Being one of the youngest on our posse, I was scrambling.Took Advil every 4 hours, Sunday back not objecting much, but thighs were cramping, so used pick up sticks for brassing.
I am tired of being cooped up, Going from little to weekends booked changed this month. 2 day shoot this weekend, 2 day CW re-enactment next weekend with an NCOWS posse shoot in the middle. Don’t know if I can commit to both Dept & Division yet.
Not bad mouthing Ruckus, GREAT Shoot, funnest weekend this year.

We will be rolling into Brownells early afternoon on Friday. I am open for a meet and great/supper late afternoon in the area.

Lt. Colonel Quickfire and myself will most likely check in at our campground,(Country Inn & Suites) in Grinnel and then head back west to the Colfax range. Maybe a trip to Brownells before 3PM check in?

2 shooters completed 1st stage, without getting rained on, 3rd shooter not so lucky, shoot was stopped to see if it would blow over. At 1400, shoot was called, even though I didn’t get to shoot, enjoyed the com-aridity with friends.
With that, unofficial best/worst dressed Saturday evening. Toss up between Quickfire & myself. Quickfire was wearing B-Western Yellow Boots, I was wearing a Kilt & Crocs, both of us received a lot of ribbing. 3rd place goes to Silver Creek Slim, after he changed into his night shirt. Although period correct he was ribbed for it.
Looking forward to Aksarben (Nebraska backwards, insider joke) division in 3 weeks, & Iowa Division next year.

If you think it was even close between Quickfire in his beautiful Olathe boots, and you in a skirt, you have been hittin the gummy bears a little too hard Dusty!  (IMHO)
