Title: Levis Anti-Gun
Post by: PJ Hardtack on May 03, 2019, 10:23:56 AM
Chip Bergh, Levis CEO has offered money to anti-gun groups and organizations.

Guess he is unaware of the western tradition of Levis worn in the Old West. A boycott sounds like a good idea.

I've been hearing that Levis is antigun for a long time.  I still occasionally buy used Levis at Goodwill but haven't bought a new pair in at least 30 years.

Levis don?t get my money for that very reason. Wranglers are better jeans any how.

I won't spend that much for jeans, so consider me boycotting already. Besides, aren't they made in Korea now?

Last time I visited, proper wranglers were 25bucks in the cowboy shop in Ogallalla (? North Platte maybe?) - I dont know if he even stocked Levis - told me he was used to Aussie tourists coming in with empty suitcases and a shopping list of all different sizes wranglers - pay a couple bucks extra for the prewashed jeans - tell a few stories while he cut the price tags off so we didnt get caught for import duty coming through customs back home.

I've been banging on that drum for over 30 years.

Have you noticed, too, that Wells Fargo took the shotgun away from their express guard a few years ago (maybe he had GPS instead), and now he just gone.

I'm certain he does and doesn't care considering it's very old news. Most gun owners I know have been boycotting them for decades and Levis was on the NRA-ILAs list of anti-gun companies 20+ years ago.

His most recent scheme was to be offering money for gun control disguised as promoting gun safety.

Major,

Of you long list the only one I do business with is Panara, because I meet my sister there for coffee once a week. I'll have to tell her to look for another coffee shop. (smile)

I quit buying Levi's years ago when they started their push and support for gay scoutmasters in the Boy Scouts. Let them know then and when they started supporting anti-2nd Amendment issues. The list Major posted, I've boycotted many of them over the years if they have stores in my area when they've openly supported liberal issues and liberal Democrat candidates (or even a few Republican when it may be he case). I contact the store manager and the corporate office and advise no more dollars from me and that I will encourage others to boycott also (which I do).  Even call those that don't have stores in my area for just cause. I used to buy at Target until they started their open bathroom policy to every misfit that couldn't decide if he was male or female. Reference blue jeans, I've bought and loved my Rodeo Cut Wranglers for years.

And then look at the long list of celebrities. Particularly the hypocritical ones like Sly Stallone and Kevin Costner just to mention a couple that have made millions off of gun violence.

The ones I got at Goodwill, I cut off the tags  ;D
Haven't bought any there in quite a while anyway, because all of them I see only have 5 belt loops and I want 7.

I stopped buying them a long time ago because the leg seams would twist around almost to the front when washed. The quality just went to zero. Then they became anti gun. Wanglers fit me better, lasted better, and had straight seams. I wear Wrangler jeans and work shirts, and Roundhouse overalls. Roundhouse is made in USA and is not anti gun.
I took a quick inventory of what I was wearing this afternoon. Jeans, shirt, boots all made in Mexico. Undershorts and undershirt Vietnam. Socks who knows. Belt buckle Navajo Nation. Hat USA. So, start with NO Levis and expand the no go group as seems right. There are already more on my "no go" list.
I try to be careful about who I do business with. I really try to avoid those who are actively supporting the anti groups. Limits me on movies but that's fine.

Well, I do stop by Costco maybe three times a year and Target about the same, but I don' shop at any of the others you listed.  Doesn't seem to be much of a loss in my life.

I'm sure all these anti-gun companies are devastated by the loss of our patronage.

I did have a pair of Levi's cords in highschool that I loved. I got some mileage out of them britches. I was still wearing them 15 years later. Fit great, the women liked them. I wore them the night I met my wife. Sadly, I had to retire them.

I don't buy or donate to Goodwill either. They operate under the guise of donating and helping the needy but hardly any of their income goes for that.

Not that they don't do a lot of good things for a lot of people, less than an eighth of their income goes for benefits while the top CEO's of the company divide up something like 60 million per year and there are all kinds of dark rumors surrounding they pay and the way they treat the workers there that they are so called helping.

I donate our stuff to a local non profit organization that provides assisted living and housing for mentally challenged people so I know it all goes to help them.

Well.  I quit Levis when I went to buy a new Levi's denim jacket.  All the tags said made in some other foreign company.  Mostly third world where labor is cheap.  I won't personally give them the time of day.  Or night.

Today-NO Levi product is made in the USA.  ::)

I have some 30+ year old Levi jackets that were USA made, and I do wear'em.
Wrangler's are my choice now.
