Sorry for the thread necromancy, but if you never decided, consider a Blackhawk in .45 Colt with the .45ACP cylinder.

I have both calibers in .357 Mag and .45 Colt, but my heart is fond for the .45 Colt... I do love the printability of the Uberti Cattleman .45 Colt and the 250 or 255gr pills that it spits.  ;D  But if I want a double action I'll take my GP100 Match Champion .357 Mag.  8)

Over the past 40 years, here’s what I have learned…

Carry what you like, it’s just that simple.

Unless you’re handgun hunting for very large game, there’s really no true need for magnums.  For woods bumming, just about anything is sufficient.  If you live where bears are, any handgun 9mm on up will get it done provided you do your job.  Big grizzlies have been stopped with compact 9mm’s and .40’s.  Black bears aren’t hard to deal with, and its pretty rare you can just chase them off.

If you’re carrying for self-defense against two legged critter, well just carry a self-defense pistol.

When I’m in the woods, I most often switch to one of my revolvers, just because I like to carry my revolvers in the woods.  I don’t consider revolvers for urban self-defense anymore, so in the wood is one of the few times I get to carry my wheelguns.

These days, I carry either my SAA in .45 Colt, or my Python loaded with .38 Specials.

I usually carry one of my .22 Woodsmans if I’m in the woods on my 33 acre property. But I probably have my edc too. Already had several moccasins in my face while working out there cleaning up the previous owners trash and clearing dead trees. We’ve found 12 tires, a hot water heater, two tvs, box fan plus there are possibly the remains of two vehicles, ranges and who knows what else. I need a Kodiak 4x4.

Built one. Pull it behind my jeep or ztr mower. The axle is from the rear end of a Fury. Fourth time that the chassis has been rebuilt. My uncle made it into a small trailer, I made it into a portable plate rail and then another trailer and now this. It wasn’t pulling good with too much flex in the tongue and crane so they got reenforced. Does fine now.
