35 rem vs 35 whelan

Howdy Pards,

I'm wondering what the difference is between a .35 Rem cartridge and a .35 Whelan?

I recently inherited a Remington 760 Gamemaster in .35 rem and I'm looking for extra mags. I'm not finding 35 rem but I can find 35 whelan.  I'm wondering if it would work.

No, the .35 Whelen is a .30-06 case necked up to .35 caliber. The .35 Whelen case is 2.494" long. The .35 Remington is only 1.92" long. The .35 Remington is much closed to a .30-30.
Numrich might have a mag.

You might try  a mag from the 308 family of rounds.  Pretty close, I think it uses the same one as well as the 300 Savage.

In dimensions the 30-30 is not all that close to the 35 Remington.  The 35 Reminton is based on a shortened 30-06 case and is rimless, the 30-30 is based on the 38-55 necked down and is a rimmed case.
