That was fast!
It sure was.

This is what I can determine so far about the rifle. It is a 1896 with a 1896 rear sight. The barrel was cut down to 23.5". The front sight is on a barrel band that appears to be a Springfield 1903 style. Some parts such as the bolt handle, trigger guard, barrel, and sling swivels are parkerized. It needs a good cleaning which I have started to do.

Local "toy" store owner found some .303 Brit brass for me. Found a load for 170+ gr bullet at 1416 fps avg of 5 shots.
