I found the new thread.

That's all I really have to say.

80's today. Got to go out and check the sites on the Hornet tomorrow.  Got a woodchuck moved in around the farm, brother wants it gone. Volunteered to go out a couple evenings a week and watch for it.  Dog will be happy to sit in the car and could take the coffee pot and plug it into the light pole, got a picnic table to sit at about 100 yards from where he is likely dug in in a tie pile.  ;D

Let's me be useful. I got to get into the semi-trailer they are making into a shed and hold a wrench. They even got me a ladder.  ;D

Sucks getting old.

I shouldn't laugh but I think someone just brought their first load of corn to town.

Was a little rough getting going and in the shifting, wouldn't be that bad except the 8-71 Detroit running on straight pipes sure sounded like it was laughing at them and pretty much the whole town had to hear it.

Someone probably shot beer out of their nose at the bar, stop sign right there and that weird Z turn.  They finally got in a high enough gear to escape heading east toward the river but had trouble on the hill at the Livingston Cemetary.

Riley heard it when they were headed to the stop sign and wanted to go out.

Good morning all, quiet morning here. 65 and sunny, supposed to hit 89 today. Gonna be warm through the weekend, then rain and 70 mid next week.
Del, good hunting on the groundhog, we expect pictures and a recipe.
G'niece's last Home Volleyball game tonight, they have a short season around here.
Swapped out two Ruger 10/22s yesterday, they are a huge improvement over the originals that will drop a magazine if you breathe hard on them.
Y'all be good.

I miss the old Kenworth I used to drive. Turbo 8v71, 5x3 Spicer twin stick with a Brownie OD box, no AC, and a muffler with a hole in it.

Woodchuck still lives; it watched us site in the Hornet but uses cover and concealment.  Watched for around 5 hours, just glimpses.

Den is at the end of the old orchard and is dragging windfall pears near it. About 125 yards from up by the trailer, we need a better bench, planned project.

Next up when Track of the Wolf order gets here is make the 36 go bang and hit things. Got 2 weeks to do that, should be cooler.  If not, we'll do that at the ron-dee-voo.

I think it would be fair if woodchuck gets taken out by the cool gun instead of one of the plastic ray guns the others shoot.  ::)

Serbian 1930's speck ammo is just fine, tested with 5 rounds and went right to the zero with my old spec ammo.

22 Hornets are supposed to be a 45 gr semi-pointed bullet at 2400-2600 fps. But now they think we need a 35 gr with plastic tip at 3000 fps. Screw that, have already been offered a new bolt gun and an AR type in 223 for the thing.  Plus a decent scope for the bolt gun.

Nope, the Hornet is supposed to be made of walnut and blue steel, by old guys in bibs and real canvas caps sitting around waiting for a chuck with a lazy dog, both in the shade.  ;D

Going to stock up on all that ammo I can afford and we will start loading, Matt is moving where he can load. Got 145 rounds and 100 more coming.  Half the price of the fancy wiz bang stuff anyway.  Will get some of the same spec Sellior and B whatever when it gets in stock, they have a same spec FMJ that would have uses on eatable things.  ;D

Even comes in a real pasteboard box as is proper for walnut and blued steel guns.

BTW both boxes cost almost the same.  Twice as much and the lower is still a 250-yard round, if need be, they say 275 to 300 for the plastic tip lightweights.

Not saying I hate the Tupperware guns, but no real style points and no soul.  I suspect, despite what some would admit that's the real appeal of Cas shooting.  ;D

My blued/maple 280 somehow surprises people by grouping just as well as their plastic fantastic with off the shelf ammo. And it has style points ::)

I need to get a 22 hornet. Maybe rebarrel a shot out model 94 or Marlin. Make it a 22 Ackley chamber, just to really throw the kids for a loop.

Or I should probably stop buying guns for a while. Or not.

Nope, a gunsmith will think you are retarded.  ;D

Better ways to get a Hornet.  The 92 Lever guns and similar Marlins will work fine if you start in 32-20 or 25-20 and are willing to settle for the slightly faster 218 Bee.  Actually, the cheapest route is a H&R single shot. How I started and they tend to shoot good.

Someone made noise at 4 am, I think he wants to go watch again.

Morning y'all.
Coffee and tea are ready.

I have an H&R with multiple barrels. One is .22 Hornet. Sadly, the Handi-Rifle is no longer made.

'Tis 58 and sunny. High of 80, blustery and sunny. Rain tonight. 60's the rest of the week.

In agreement with Del, better to re-barrel a shot out model 94 or Marlin, my suggestion in 32/20.

I load it for both an original 1891 Winchester 73 using Black powder or Shockey's Gold and a JM Marlin CL with Titegroup.

And for 218 Bee, a similar, slightly faster round that uses the same head as a 25-20/32-20 and 92 on the Winchester, not 94.

That would happen anyway. Just ask my wife.  ::)

I have an H&R 410. It was my first gun, that my parents got for my 10th birthday. I would very much like to get one in 12 gauge, and a rifle version, preferably in a straight wall like 38-55. Maybe someday. One of the local pawn shops has one in 450 Marlin, but I don't really have any need for that much gun.

Besides as a modern wiz bang no one really needs, ammo will get scarce before long, should I make you a list. When was the last time you saw 256 mag, 6.5 Rem Mag, 22 jet, 350 Rem mage and dozens of others sitting on the shelf.  ;D
