Afternoon all. Rumors of my demise are greatly exaggerated.

Been busy of late. With the gov shutdown, my paychecks have been somewhat reduced. As a first responder, I do still get paid, but at 70% of normal rate. We're squeaking by, though I'm supplementing my income on weekends with chainsaw work.

Weather has been bouncing between rain and sun like a pinball on crack.

Well no flurries. but got down to 26 last night, 31  here right now, supposed to hit a high of 42 today. Sunny, should make for a nice drive to Branson, MO today, we are getting away for a few days. Y'all be good!

It's been a nice last couple days here. Monday was cold but sunny as we headed to Branson MO for a few days. My Nephew and his Wife also took a couple days to come up for a break too [with four kids, they can use it]. Anyway the condo is really nice, the weather has improved the last two days to just gorgeous. They had to leave this morning after we had a late breakfast at Cracker Barrel.Last night we were even able to see the Northern Lights here. We are here til Friday, went to see The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in a live play yesterday and it was great. Tomorrow is just gonna be a quiet day and I plan on spoiling my Missus.

Got a cold that is kicking my butt. Monthly outage today. Gonna do it from home.

Time was about 7:20 AM, opening day. Location, a deer stand approximately 200 yards east of my humble abode. Spotted something brown approaching from the south. Fat forkhorn buck After a minute of observation, the Fish Gun spoke. 300gr Remington hollow point sped ambled on it's way. Buck ran about 100 yards, then crashed into a fence. By 9:00 AM he was hanging in the cooler. Still have 2 "antlerless only" landowner deer tags I can fill.

Nice.  I need to get back into hunting sometime.  Plenty of deer on my folks' ground in NE NE.  But no time.  Just got home from a few hours at the office.  I don't work on Saturdays.  Officially.

I had time at work today between customers to fit a new front sight on a Savage 99 from 1955. The old one was really beat up so a new one with an ivory bead was fitted. Usual time with files and test fitting finally got it done. Next step is to get it fitted for a "new" peep sight.  I do enjoy bringing the old guns back to use.
