 :) Thanks Wildman  ;)

I'm doing this one in two stages.  Also hoping to get away with "quick and dirty" for this job.  Wish Me luck.  Basically trying to smooth over some rust galling.

Gun Reviews / Re: Cimarron/Pietta Cavalry pr...
Last post by Coffinmaker - April 16, 2025, 09:54:36 AM

 :)  Well  ;)

The final assemble of "guns" at Uberti and Pietta are done at "rows" of benches.  Each bench has little boxes of individual parts.  If a particular box runs low or out, the tech goes to the central parts area and grabs a handful of that part and goes back to work.

Guns are also made in "runs."  After a particular run is completed, that specific gun may not be made again for a year.  And every August or September, the whole shebang shuts down for Holiday/Vacation.

For these reasons, there is no guarantee for "sameness."  Consecutive number guns will most likely NOT be assembled by the same tech.  Nor in the same batch, nor the same day or even the same week.  Just the way it's done.  A "special" order waits until that gun is in production.  I have personally had some specific parts I needed on back-order for as long as three years.  Good Luck Everybody!!

I couldn't delete the thread but I did edit it so that maybe it doesn't show up in their tard-bot search.

Firelapping is done with professional grade lapping compound and soft lead bullets. Neco industries in CA used to be where I obtained my firelapping kits from, it consists of four different sizes of grit starting with 400 and ending with 1500 grit. Four rounds are shoot with each grit for a total of twelve rounds. The bore is cleaned after every shot, these rounds are loaded with reduced velocity. Been doing this for 35 years, easy but tedious.
