The Winchester Model 1892 / Finally completed my Wincheste...
Last post by Buckaroo Lou - May 18, 2025, 04:03:24 PM
After purchasing my two 1892 deluxe take-down Winchesters over a year ago, I spent the last year looking for the final rifle to complete my 1892 take-down trio. Here are a few photos of my new Winchester 1892 deluxe trapper take-down. I now have the 24" barrel rifle, the 20" barrel short rifle, and finally the 16" barrel trapper. The figure in the buttstock shows up better when viewed at an angle. It is in .357 Magnum caliber.

I have some history with the Goodyear Blimp one or two of them anyway.
We used to see it here in Fla. every year it was Based in Miami and later Pompano Beach.
In 1977, I worked on a Movie called "Black Sunday", in it a terrorist was to use it to blow up the Super Bowl.
I worked on a Gondola and false nose for the close-up at the Orange Bowl.
We also saw it a Races (Daytona)also it and the Virgin Blimp over Disney.

Morning, all. Sunny and 62 here, high of 79.

Music recital for the girls after church, today. Older Daughter plays Violin, Younger on piano.

Interesting sight yesterday- Goodyear Blimp flew over. I was inside, Wife called me outside to see what kind of strange plane was flying by- going so slow she thought it was going down. Was flying north of the house, I couldn't see it until it came from behind a clump of trees there.

Planted my 2 acre "hobby farm" corn patch yesterday. No parts fell off the 50 year old planter, so I'll call it a success.

Quote from: Arizona Trooper on May 16, 2025, 06:27:13 PMThanks for the report. Glad to hear that the repeater match came off. Looked like weather was headed your way about that time. I was hoping to be on the line with you, but when our campsite was under 3 feet of water earlier this week I decided to save my vacation time. Might not have been the best decision I ever made. But, I have 100 rounds of 56-50 and 100 56-56 ready for the next skirmish.
Our campsite got hit hard. My trailer, which wasn't much to speak of before, is a total loss.

Been a bit scarce lately as I have been up to my eyes in projects. Congrats to Sackett, I am envious as my High School Football Coach told me he used a sundial to time me. Storms off and on between sunshine the last couple of days. A poor, misguided Cottonmouth passed away on our driveway yesterday, poor little thing. Rumor has it he died from self inflicted lead poisoning.

Afternoon all.

75 today with high humidity and a light breeze. Not altogether unpleasant.

Had a retirement party yesterday for a local engine captain. Small affair, just his wife, daughter+SIL, and 4 of us that worked for him, grilled some burgers and talked around the fire. Definitely feeling all the jalapeño poppers today :o

Del, those BB Outdoorsman loads are nice. I have a few boxes in 38spl. They're standard pressure, but I still only shoot them out of my 357, because they have enough pop and recoil that I think my old Charter 38 would rattle apart after 2-3 rounds. My 38 carry ammo is also from BB, 158gr Kieth style SWC-HP at 825fps. Big boom, lots of smoke, but reasonable recoil, and I don't feel bad shooting them through my Charter.

In other ammo news, I loaded up some 325gr coated LRN 44mag ammo the other day. Manual suggests 1350fps, but I doubt I'll see that out of my 5.5" Blackhawk. Should be fun to pull the trigger though.

Congratulations to Sacket.
I just finished loading 150 rounds of CAS rifle ammo(105 grain .38 special) on my 650. Next up will be pistol ammo which is the same as the rifle but not in Starline cases and different primers.
