Colt Lightning Rifle

Howdy, I just picked up a Colt Lightning Rifle in 44/40.  In the front of the trigger guard there is a spring loaded lever that releases the slide.  The rifle functions fine but the lever spring is either broken or came off because you have to manually operate it.  I would like to repair it but I can't find any schematics or assembly/disassembly instructions that even mention this lever.  Can anyone point me to a place where I can get a schematic?  Thank you.

That sounds like a modern production Pedersoli Lightning rifle.  That's a feature they added that the original Colts didn't have.  It allows you to cycle the action to empty it without dropping the hammer.  The Colt's required the hammer be dropped each time the action was cycled.  Check with Lee Shaver for parts - he's the Pedersoli warranty guy for the US.
