Guns sleepin' till April
« on: November 01, 2020, 10:16:04 AM »
Here in Wisconsin, our 2020 Cowboy Action shooting is done till next April.  Now, my guns are all cleaned, oiled and socked for the winter.  COVID slowed some of the action but all in all it was a good season.  I didn't even shoot any of my toes off.

We have a couple of clubs that stop shooting in Oct or Nov then start up in March. Quite a few go all winter but we generally just get a cold rain rather than snow in the winter. Some clubs even have cover to shoot from so they go year round. Lucky us. :)

I'd rather shoot in the snow than a cold rain. I always kind of liked hunting when it was snowing. Usually when it gets cold enough to snow the air feels drier to me.

Yeah, but Cliff,
When it raining out and you are under cover and dry the billows of smoke just lay in there like a big beautiful fog bank. I love it.

Hello Dick,
I hate to rub it in, but in the last two days practicing with my 1860 Henry I have put 45, if I counted correctly, rounds down range at the 50 yard target. Mostly hits.
It got up to 83 and too warm to shoot so I came in to eat lunch.
Such is the hard times of living in Central Texas.

83 is too warm to shoot? I figured Texicans for bein' tougher than that (lol). As long as it stays below 110 here in the AZ desert I'll drag my ol' busted self out. May stand under a ramada but I'll still make some smoke.

Dave
