We want a range report when you get your ammo put together, Major Deux. But I’m afraid that my gunoholic habits are about to be seriously impacted as I’m buying 33 acres of property with my son for us to eventually build on. There are 22 acres of woods and 11 acres are peanut fields, has a nice field road and power line from a previous farm house that is gone now. It will be at least 4 years before I build a log cabin [I hope] and longer before my son builds a retirement home on it.

Checking my stash

I have 200 +  @  250 grain  .454  Bullets - these I plan to use first , less I find something else (better)
  and about 400 @  200 grain .454   :-\

I plan to order 45 Auto Rim , but ! Did get a bakers dozen Moon Clip with the gun and I have an ammo can near full of 45ACP brass.

It fits quite nicely in with my WWI -WWII grouping and joins its recent acquired 38/200 Enfield cousin.

I do have an Armas Garantazadas
1924 Eibar Spain 38 Long Revolver... Spanish Revolution era
It was later captured in Cuba 1959-60

But it is wall hang art  as it is  Toulouse-Lautrec...Toulouse to shoot

Looks like Dan Wesson wasn't the first DA revolver to have the latch on the crane at the front of the cylinder.
Also, same problem as the early Colt Army DA's-cylinder rotates counter clockwise, so the pressure from the hand is pushing the crane out, away from the frame, instead of toward it like the later ones. My 1892 has this problem, so at the instant the hammer falls, sure it locks up tight-but with the cylinder mis-aligned enough that it spits lead badly out the left side.

Well, picked up an 1866 Yellowboy Monday, Wenesday we closed on our retirement home and bought a new fridge, washer and dryer for said house. No weddings or auto repairs, so don't jinx us!

We want a range report when you get your ammo put together, Major Deux. .....

I'm gathering the needs...

I ordered 45 Auto Rim from Graf's (they also had the #13 shell holders)
Turned to Springfield Slim ( Mark Whyte ) for some cast  .262 grain hollow base bullets...

Dependent on the shipping arrival dates as to when I load ... :-\

If I can locate Unique , otherwise planning  3.2- 3.5  grains of Trail Boss

The bullets I ordered from Springfield Slim arrived ... 2 days USPS...
Waiting on my Auto Rim Shells and shell holders from Graf's & Son...their shipping is always a bit lagging behind.

Update on my Webley adventure  :)

It took 12 days for Graf's to get the Starline brass shipped   ::),  and 4 days to arrive after that  , but it did arrive.
( an observation , not really a complaint , but additional brass is in route from Buffalo Arms and will arrive within the first week )

In the mean time my Chronograph arrived and I set about to work up my load...

I have also purchased Bear Creek Supply   .454  260 grain hollow base Webley bullets (see photos) BTW 2 days shipping  ;D

I'm impressed with the consistency and quality of Bear Creek's product  ( moly coated bullets )

They are  .80 shorter than Springfield Slim cast bullets , set at the same depth it makes the OAL of the final bullet .80 shorter
than the SS bullet when it is crimped at original .455 cartridge OAL

Note: the point of crimp <---- in 3rd & 4th. photos  However the shape is blunter

Powder is the same weight of Trail Boss

Slims bullets chronograph average -  652 FPS
The Bear Creek - 626 FPS      ( which I allude to the slicker moly coat )

Springfield Slim also ships fast ...2 days ( I also like the historic shape of his bullets )
FYI  SS bullets are  .452  @  262 grains  ( recovered bullets show they bump to .454 and engage rifling nicely )

* all shots at 7 yards with the chrono at  10ft out from the muzzle

I just sold my last .455, a well preserved MK VI made by Enfield in 1924. Only 4000 made before the Brits went to the .38 S&W cartridge.

It shot miserably with 265 HB Webley bullets cast from an RCBS mould, the bullets tumbling. It shot well with was the 230 gr RN for the .45 ACP sized .452.

Maybe the brits wanted the bullets to tumble to increase the stopping power of the weak .455 load.

3.5 in … Maybe that's still a little long? I bet you could trim them a bit still.
