I'm glad you got your holiday in before the low blows in.
I do wish we could have hooked up, while you were down but the Panhandle coast is near 8 hours
from central Fl.

In other news, I was carrying my assembled 24" x 30 " shadow box to the sawhorse for paint and missed a riser step.
The insuring stumble, cause me to crack my right knee on the concrete step, and whack & skin up the back of my right hand on the door jam.
I did manage to keep the shadow box from damage  ::) but, I'm some bruised and a tad bloodied.
Anyway, shook that off and got the painting done. :)
I guess I'll hold off to do the mounting till tomorrow.

Montana has been, contrary to the stereotype, greener than California.

That’s about all there is to say about that. I’ve mostly been doing computer training.

Those small drought maps are hard to read but we were either in a severe drought or at least the neighbors across the street,

Well we made it home with both girls still alive. 12 hours in the truck and all joking aside, they were really good. Lots of laughing and singing, playing the Alphabet Game, etc. So the house is a bit noisy right now, but it is good. Major, quit banging yourself up! And the shadowbox looked really good.

Whew....it hit 81 today, sunny and just a purty day. Tomorrow is supposed to be just as nice. Running kids around today and then a trip to Conway where we had lunch and ice cream. Got the g'nephew back this evening and played Battletech. Youngest g'niece is bathed and in bed. There is definitely a reason God gives kids to young people! Anyway, Lucas and I are heading to the range tomorrow afternoon.

Time for a glass of iced tea.

Couldn't get in here since Monday morning.

Rita is in the hospital with a staph infection, the same strain she had in 2021 and I had last year.  They don't think we are giving it to each other.  Was weird, she got in after work at Costco Monday, she could not tell me what she sampled, would go into gibberish and not make sense.  Other stuff was ok pretty much.   I thought maybe she had had a stroke, her coworkers did her clean up because she looked tired.   Anyway against her protest we went to ER, she walked in and told them I made her come in but she was OK, I told her to tell them what at work today and more of the same gibberish, they took her back, no waiting.  I went and parked the car, had a Dr and 4 nurses in the room.  He had theses laminated sheets she had to read to them, tell them what the pictures were, played the touch your nose, touch my fingers and the Dr said she seemed fine.  Told him to ask her what she did at work today, he did and more gibberish.  They unbraked the bed and told me they were headed to do a cat scan and would be back.  They came back, no stroke, but she was in A Fib.  They told her she wasn't going home.  After a couple hours they assured me she wan not in any immediate danger, so I went home.  The chair and her nasty glares were killing me.  Got a call early (for me) Tuesday from Neuro  Dr, telling me nothing neuro was wrong, but was a staph infection.

I called her and she was a little bit nicer to me and I said the Dr had called me and told me she had a staph infection and she got upset and told me it was bacterial.  Had a quick microbiology class and she told me to google it.  Told her I paid attention in school and had read up on it last year besides what they told me and she was right, it was bacterial and I was too because I more specific on the type, being rod shaped bacteria. ::)  She posted what happened on FB and all her friends and such told her she was lucky she had such a smart and alert husband.  ;D Yes you can win sometimes.  She was totally crazy not partly in 2021 when I took her in, seems with a staph she goes into A Fib and that makes her a bit off in the head.

She may get home in a day or so, will have to do IV antibiotics till it's gone, then they put a new port in and back to chemo.  They think it is actually shrinking but will wait in the MRI on that.  If it's shrinking an extra 3-4 weeks between treatments won't hurt.  If it's not it still likely won't make a difference.

Slim, I will tell you the same thing I told Jerry, if anyone asks how I'm doing and her if they know, just start out with "you won't believe this shit." ::)

Oh, she is no longer mad at me, brought her a gyro tonight from her favorite place, in fact more than normal nicey nice. ;D  I did remind her this is the 5th time I've saved her life by making her go to the ER, the Dr or calling 911, not quit true, if the chemo works and we get it at least into remission will make it #5.  I am fairly sure if nothing else I gave her more time.  You don't last long if you can't poop and pee at all and she was very close to that in March.

I'm going to bed, smoke is mild again and my O2's are up.  Oh talked with the Drs and we will wait to test me till or if I shows signs of having it again.  See even if you have no infection you can test positive for staph because we all have them in and on our body.  It's when they find a week place and attack it that it's a problem, my Dr and the infectious disease Dr says the same and my research confirms it and no not WEB MD.  My Drs laugh when I mention doing research and not WEB MD.  Asked one one time if John Hopkins was a reliable site. ;)  He told me he wished more people knew how to do research like that.  And even at that I don't read just one.  And I may be showing some because Pneumonia is one possibility.  Got over the last one but not sure if it ain't coming again, had to tell with the pine smoke.

Just another reason to not go next week, even though that was not going to happen.  Might freak the locals out if they had to land a helicopter in Jerry's pasture.   ::)

They’re from Oregon and just filling in until our forest decides to staff our engine that normally lives there. Anyway, it was ten hours of driving back roads in a fire engine, so could be worse.

Yesterday and today are my regularly scheduled days off, and I took the opportunity to hike up to my favorite mountain lake with the dog. It’s a special hike, as my best friend and I used to do it every year in May or June (whenever the snow melted), and this was the first time I’ve been able to do it since he died in 2021. Weather was perfect, and in a poetic twist of fate, the snow on the back side of the mountain was too deep to get all the way to the lake, just like so many times when I’d go with him.

Del, try to avoid those helicopter rides. They’re less fun in a gurney.

Came close once, nobody including me knew what was going on in Sept of 2019, 75 miles from a heart hospital, no cell service or vehicle closer than a half mile.  All the Drs agree I needed a couple Nitro and a helicopter ride.  Did the logical thing, drank some iced tea, rested in the shade about 5 minutes, got my picture taken to show how wore out the old man got, then I went back to cooking. ::)

Well, today was interesting. The Missus had lunch with a friend from church who had been in my intro class a couple weeks ago. She wanted to meet up at the LGS as she wanted a different gun, easier for her to handle. So we met up after their lunch and she picked out a Charter Arms 38 after trying a bunch of different guns. While she was buying that, my Missus found a Leopard Ruger 10/22 and took that home too! Then a gent came in who likes vintage guns and I wound up selling him a mint 1903A3! Told the boss I should have been on the payroll.

Morning all.

Had a fire last night, right in time to make overtime. It was in town, and they had it pretty well under control by the time they called us, but we put in some good work for a few hours. It was a good time.

Got hit by a few thunderstorms yesterday, so we’ll see if we get any more overtime.

Anyway, gonna head into work this afternoon after running a couple of errands. Will boresight the 270 at the shop with the "new" Leupold on it. Y'all be good and TK be careful with those fire calls.

Only got to 94 today, but the rest of the week is predicted just plain nasty, in the 100s til Monday. Fought with putting a new mainspring in the 1866 and got tired of questioning the heritage of those involved in it's design and build. Gonna call another CAS shooter nearby for some help tomorrow. So took Lady C to dinner and then we watched some TV.

Morning Slim and the rest of you scoundrels! ;D 88 here already, heading for 101. The next few days are gonna be rough temperature wise all over so you all take care. Working this afternoon and all day tomorrow, hope the shop's AC is up to snuff for this. Lady C went to the beautician yesterday and came back a blonde! It looks good on her and I am getting in trouble with blonde jokes. Y'all take care, especially if you gotta be out in this heat.

Morning all.

Currently 91, 18% humidity. Supposed to hit 100, and looks like it’s going to do it.

Spent the past two days on a lightning fire. It was steep country, but we caught it at 2/5 acre. We did get a helicopter for about an hour, but then it got dark. It was a good time.

Well my good netizens, it finally hit 100 deg F (for the first time) here in The Great Southwest.

but it's a "dry heat'

which means we get to enjoy the phenomenon known as " virga" aka "Rain that doesn't reach the ground"

Wow, hit 103 today, 118 heat index! Yikes, and it is supposed to stay at this for a couple more days. Fought with a Colt New Service at the gun shop today, not as familiar with Colt DA revolvers as my beloved S&Ws, but I think I have it worried. Anyway, if I can get it running right, it should sell quickly. Also, started working on an 1880s '73 Winchester in 44-40, but I am afraid it has been beat to death internally by someone shooting smokeless in the poor mud puppy.
