Silver grip frame

My replica 1862 police is a nice looking pistol. But looking at the pictures of originals and reading about the details it became clear the grip frame needs silver plated! Found on the internet magic lotions claiming to put real sliver onto copper based alloys and ordered it. Short story I couldn't get the stuff to do it. A call to the folks I ordered it from for tec support yielded no help but she said she would send me another bottle. Not what I wanted to hear. The new bottle arrived and is different stuff with the exact same instructions. This works well! My photos aren't very good and the grips are different but I hope it gives an idea.

This is a chemical fix - a real fix would involve actual silverplating, and a good jewelry repairman can do this easily, so find a guy who does the work for the trade.

two of my grip frames are nickel plated and it gave me the idea to get my 72 replicas done the same way

   I, too, have a Colt's 1862 PP, and a Colt's 1871, with bare brass that I'd love to Silver Plate; so, barring an obliging jeweler, I'll consider your solution!

MT, I found it by stumbling around on the internet. This is called Liquid Sliver and it will plate a clean copper based alloy fairly well. The metal you want to plate should be very well polished then wash with soap and water. Don’t handle with bare hands, cotton gloves worked well for me.
