That’s where it was originally just a WB side match but as we we shoot it with our monthly matches the boltgun replaces your cas rifle. And of course your choice of DA revolver/s or semiauto replaces your cas revolvers. And shotgun targets are the same for cas and WB competitors.

Jerry wrote the rules for the EEM.  (I'm usually wiped out by then, and often sleep thru the EEM match) and he specified the barrel mounted sight.  He did not specify the stock type, though the full pistol grip stock is one of the defining marks of the A3 variant.  As such I believe as the rule is presently written the Scant stock can be used on a 1903 with barrel mounted sights.

We do try to be inclusive on these things, and one of the purposes of the EEM is to enable as many folks as possible to be able to shoot this type of match with weapons many already have.  It seems most anyone with a fondness for old American military arms has a 1903 and a 1911 in their collection.  The barrel mounted sight makes for an easy definition and cut off.
Well, actually General Scout wrote most of it but with my/our input.
The regs for the EEM with regards to the 1903 Springfield simply say, " Springfield Model 1903A rifle. Must have barrel mounted sights. WWII
style receiver sights are not allowed."

We probably do need to revisit stock configurations.

I believe the sight protector was used in some forms fairly early so we're probably ok to use them, but I would like to do some research on that before I give final approval.

Remington however, did not make scants....
I believe Remington made all the 1903A4's and, "The “scant stock” (half pistol grip) was installed on all but a few early Model 1903A4s that instead used the last of the prewar “C” stocks with the full pistol grip. "

My 1903A Remington 1942 build , has a scant stock but it also has the S stamp by the magazine disconnect.

Remington's did use them,  Remington did not make them however.

Scants were made from existing straight stocks, to use up the stored stock blanks in 1941-1942
when planets align...do the deal !
