M1881 tang sight

<< < (2/2)

Blackpowder Burn:
I think you'll find that the Marbles sights use the rear tang screw as one of the attachment points, thus moving the sight much further to the rear.  While it is and 1895 model rather than an 1881, my 45-70 bolt clears the Marbles sight easily.

You might also try Lee Shaver if you prefer an ecomomy type Soule sight.

Whiskey Double:
What did you figure out with the sight?  I'm trying to find a mid range sight for my own 1881 ,45 Gov't.

Buckaroo Lou:
I too believe the correct tang sight will have a longer base that will utilize the rear tang screw. The sight stem will sit farther back and allow the bolt to clear.

I also second checking out the Lee Schaver economy Soule tang sight. I have one on one of my single shot rifles and love it. I also got the Hadley eye piece and globe front sight he sells as well.
