Cartridge of the day ??

I have in my hands an old cartridge even i can't identify  ???
The head stamp is REM-UMC  35 SLR -----  What is it ?
Looks like a 38 Spec with a HEAVY slug.

35 Self Loading Rifle? Think I remember that Winchester made a self loader for a straight walled 35 calib cartridge that was not very long or very powerful.

Checking an old Blue Book I find 351 Winchester SL chambered rifle with 5 or 10 round box mag, made from 1907 to 1957.

I believe what you have is the 35 Winchester Self-Loading cartridge.  It appears to have been called both the 35 WSL (35 Winchester Self-Loading) and the 35 SLR (35 Self-Loading Rifle).  According to one of my references, The Handloader's Manual Of Cartridge Conversions by John J. Donnelly, cases can be made from 357 Magnum cases, cut to 1.15" length (it appears that 38 Special cases would also work) and with the rim turned to 0.405" diameter.  Also, it appears to have been loaded wit a 180 grain bullet.  Hope that this helps.

Looks like you pards may have it.  There's little info on google.
It sure seems like about 200 grain slug - almost rimless.  Gotta be a mouse phart !!
