Anybody got a good link to a site or a post here about these? I really don't have a handle on what was issued and to which service. Any help would be appreciated on this one.

The only sidearm not seen here for your timeline is the M1909 Colt, a .45 Colt New Service with a 5.5" barrel. Basically, the front line sidearm of all services in this time period was some form of the Colt New Army and Navy. 2nd line would be the Colt SAA in either 7.5" or 5.5" for the Army, with the USN still having some 1851 Colt Navy conversions in .38 LC. There might be a few 7.5" S&W Schofields still about, though they should have been all sold off by then. Of course, officers of all services had the option of private purchase, as long as it was in issue caliber.
The NA&N can be hard to find, and harder to maintain. The Colt Army Special/Official Police is an accepted substitute, blued with fixed sights, 6" light barrel.

There were 1000 Smith M1899s purchased for evaluation in 1901, but not formally adopted. A good sidearm for a Phillipines impression. They were not kept for very long, as the Army decided they did not want another set of parts in the supply chain.

Well at least I have not completely lost my mind. I knew that I had read it somewhere.
IIRC this was a round butt 6" M&P..ie K frame?

Yes, K frame, 6" pencil barrel, round butt, fixed sights. blue. Any S&W K frame that fits these parameters is allowed. I stumbled across a 1902 a few years back, basically the same as the 1899, but with the addition of a forward barrel lug for locking the end of the ejector rod.
Yeah, I fixated on the USN order, (wonder why?) but neither stayed in the system much past 1905.

Here's mine. It's one of of the first 1000 the army bought. In this picture it has the wrong grips. ( Well it still does, but the ones on it now are closer to being correct.
