Does anyone know anything about these Cap and Ball revolvers? Are they worth getting to shoot as CAS guns?
Thanks

Ask Me!!  Ask Me!!  I did my Home Work!!  Ask Me Teacher!!

The Colt Signature Series guns are Uberti's.  Mostly.  The parts are all Uberti, shipped here and completed by a Third Party contractor.  Really nice looking guns.  However .... The guns suffer all the same maladies as any other Uberti built Cap Gun.  Serious fit problems at the Arbor and Barrel Lug so before any serious attempt at "CAS Ready" must start with fixing the barrel to arbor fit.  After the arbor fit is solved, they will need a change of nipples (I recommend Slix), a change of springs, maybe some work on timing and fitting the bolt to the cylinder.  This work is common to ALL Cap Guns intended for use as CAS guns.  Out of the box, some (Uberti) don't even function.

I worked on a lot of them.  I have never seen one that didn't need extensive work to be acceptable.  I don't actually think the Signature Series were intended to be "used."  More of a collector and display item.  I also think the guns are well over priced.  They can be made to run but expect to be doing a lot of work on them.  There are better choices.

What coffin said!

Too many people see COLT and think big bucks...

A new Uberti 1860 is cheaper and better built than the signature COLTs,
but will still need all the fixes Coffin related.

Good luck on your quest
