Some relative said it was a nice place to March through, but they wouldn't want to live there.

Yet they tear down Lee and Jackson monuments not Sheridans Grants or Lincolns. Just sayin'

I have 25 acres, with a well and a creek. How do you feel about Georgia?

I recall a Phrase...all over Hell and half of Georgia....

as in  " been look'n' all over Hell and half of Georgia''... not sure of its origins , I heard it when I was kid, still use on occasion ...

Think 'Ol Jerry Lee had song ....but that was just lyric , not the origin  :-\

and yeah...Roo   "Yet they tear down Lee and Jackson monuments not Sheridans Grants or Lincolns. Just sayin'"

to the victor go the spoils, and to the liberals, dam near everything else  ::)

Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen

According to Google it was Charlie Ryan 1955. I remember my dad singing it before Commander Cody was a band.

What part of Georgia?
An hour east of Macon, 10 miles outside a small township.

Absolutely, I recall .... Charlie Ryan ! you are right  :)

it was the Commander Cody rendition I recalled best though ... :-\
But Charlie Ryan was the song's writer.

Thinking of him (Ryan)  I recalled Bobby Horton ...  got to see him once , strange I don't recall were ( I think U of M campus )

He did " North To Alaska ",  "Sink the Bismarck", & "The Battle of New Orleans" which was written by Jimmy Driftwood.

Thanks fer the coffee.

Thanks for that link. I wasn't actually going to look into CC, but that easy link got me curious. I might have to actually look for some of their music now, so thanks for that too :) Is there anybody in particular they remind you of?
