for side matches Im looking for a good derringer. What caliber is allowable? Where can I locate one?

Well, if'n ya want to shoot it lots and have decent trigger pull and accuracy go with the priceyer models like the Bond derringer. If you just want to stick one in the suspender holster to look good go with the cheaper Davis derringer, (I think they are called Cobra or something like that now).

Most gun shops sell derringers or will order them for you from any of the various companies that make them.

The top of the line would be the Bond. Last night on COWBOYS, Tequila did the derringers.
If you get The Outdoor Channel, it'll be rerun Sunday at 12:30 P.M. EDT . He says the most reliable is the Bond..........Buck

So is the Davis illegal too?
I wold reckon the better-built pistol would be MORE legal.
