Is it in BP or smokeless era?  S# range made after 1907 for Iver Johnsons.
Cool little gun I just repaired one (IJ) is 38 S&W in the BP era, for a fellow.
Though it was enclosed Hammer DA only.

It's been a little while since the Planets aligned in my neighborhood.
According to sources, Partial Solar Eclipse in Orlando, Florida, obscuration here is 57.76%
That will be close enough  ;)

I'll keep you posted as the alignment in my procurement progresses.  :)

I carried a 642PC for years, great pocket gun. Try it with Winchester 110 grain Silvertips. Also, look at the Hogue wood grips for it. They stick out a little deeper, but are a LOT easier to hang on to and still let you pocket carry the little beast easily.

 :) Oh Poo  ;)

Some Lustrum ago, I had a small stash of Smith's.  All had 3" shrouded barrels with gorgeous Combat grips.  .357, .45 Colt and .44 Mag.  Sadly, I let 'em go.  Wish I still had 'em  :'(

I put the Hogue rubber grips on my 642 airweight. Makes it more bulky and maybe not so easy to conceal, but it sure makes it easier to get a grip on. There is even room for my pinky finger.

When I bought my first pistol in '98 (a .380 Walther clone), and went to the range to try it out, my brother let me shoot his Centennial 640.  The only ammo he had was some 170gr thumpers and YIKES it HURT to shoot that thing!  Mucho better with 125gr Golden Sabers!

The wood grips are just a hair smaller, but enough to get a decent grip. And being wood, they don't hang up in the pocket the way the Goodyears do.

Well if'n Abilene's gonna pick on me, I'll just post this Sig 220 I traded for today. Needs a new front night sight, but looking forward to having this one in the herd.
Really doesn't look much different, but got the new sights on it and the fellow I got it from finally found the factory grips, so the Hogue's have been replaced. The factory grips have always just felt "right" in my hand.

Try a set of Ergo grips they are odd looking but feel great. I love mine. Tried rubber and wood boot grips and like these the best. I also had it cut for moon clips. I run Critical Defense ammo in it. After I wore the clearcoat off the finish I had it painted Marine Cop red, wore that off and had it painted again.

Smith Airweight! Huzzah!

Yessir, strange looking, but if they fit one’s hand they can be awesome.
The concept is based upon the little finger’s grip strength being optimized to a smaller dimension.

I do rather love the red finish! These days, as I get closer to cataract surgery, i cna never find ANYTHING because all my crap is black! Black hostlers, black pistols, black pouches, black belt bags, black shoulder bags, black cellphones and pouches, black speedloaders, black magazines, black eyeglass cases, black suitcases….

When I eloquoate frustration aloud over the inability to find something , Mrs Marvel halps by saying
“ I am sure its in a black bag ….”

I am getting ready to go buy that new spray paint that sticks to anything… in Cherry Red and Hiway Safety Yellow…

Back on topic, I am absolutely ENAMOURED with my S&W airweight model 438.

Of course i got it “cheap” … equipped it with soft rubber lasermax laser grips that look crazy similar to those boot grips, and carry with

“Buffalo Bore  Standard Pressure Short Barrel Low Flash Heavy .38 Special Ammo
158 gr. Soft Lead SWC-HC (850 fps/M.E. 253 ft. lbs.) “

Good stuff, actually makes 850 ish fps from a 2” barrel,  low flash, and EXPANDS QUITE WELL.

The little smith is my most favorite carry piece and my second lightest. Lightest is the keltec .380 mouse gun,
For “bathing suit beach carry “ … as if we have any beaches in this desert.

This is actually the FIRST Brand-New gun I've purchased in maybe 10 or so years ?

Oh, I've bought new to me, even Like new in box consignments.
I think the last brand new, was my Uberti New model #3 in 2013.  :-\

I did buy a consigned Springfield EMP, that was as new, unfired but still had a registered previous owner.
I also won a new Glock 19 Gen 4 a few year back, but traded it off.  :P

Mostly, I have a modest collection of vintage milsurps or Duty guns and my Cowboy guns.
I did buy a JM Marlin new old stock unfired back in 2015-16 I think. Made in 1982 long before Remlin or Ruger owned Marlin. But it was 30 + years new.
My SSA Colt was unfired from a collector , but that was quickly remedied.

So, this is my first new-brand new gun in quite a long time.

I have to get the Planets in line, before its winging its way
