I just got a Cimarron Teddy Roosevelt Colt over the weekend, and it is a beauty. While it is not a perfect replica of his Colt, it is a fine tribute to him and his Colt.
The action right out of the box is butter smooth and will not require me to do an action job. Since Uberti has gone the way of 3 click actions, Pietta has stayed with the tradition 4 clicks, and boy howdy, they have perfected them. The timing is dead on, bolt engaging the cylinder notch perfectly. Both hammer pull and trigger pull both on the light side but not too light. Weight and balance... ...well, if you were to blindfold me, and place it in my hand, I'd be hard pressed to tell you if it was a Colt or not. In short, I am very pleased with this Pietta built Cimarron.

Looks good! You've got the right props to go with it. :)

That there is a righteous fine looking TR replica. REALLY nice. I notice, in your photo it has the knurled assembly screw for the Base Pin. Somewhere in the box, should be the correct flush fitting screw for the Base Pin. Often stuck thru a small hole in the cardboard. Although Pietta is more prone to fitted foam for box interiors.

Nice looking revolver!
Just fyi, no +p ammo - even if you get an acp cyl for it.

Coffinmaker,
I sent an email to Cimarron and told them I was missing the flush mount screw, they sent a replacement that week.
Now if we could get Pietta to make the groove all around the base pins in all guns, we'd be defecating in tall fibrous vegetation. ;D

AMEN!! That two position Base Pin is annoying at the least. Even after it has been shortened, the latch consistently drops into the first notch. Total annoyance. I've kept mine but am leaning more and more toward a pair of Uberti base pins without the two position stupidity.

That maybe a good solution. Will the Uberti's fit the Piettas? That would be cheaper than buying a new mini lathe.

I believe I've read they do... The Diameter of the Uberti pin is .248

The first thing I did when I got a Pietta was slap a Uberti base pin in it! It hasn't even been shortened, but is much easier to install than the Pietta pin. This one was a spare I had, but if I had to buy one I'd buy the shorter Uberti pin that goes to the current 3-clicker guns.
I asked Mike Harvey once if there was any chance of Pietta changing to an Uberti-style base pin with the grooves all the way around, but Pietta says "No Way". I'm guessing they would have to pass a bunch more tests over again.
