What shellholder for Taylor Starline 56-50
« on: October 15, 2005, 01:49:48 PM »
Just picked up all my equipment for the Taylor Spencer loading.  Waited until I got home to test out the parts.  The Lyman X-17 shellholder that the shop was told would work is too small for the Starline 56/50 brass rim.

So, what is the correct shellholder?   I use a Lee press but the Lyman will fit.  But,  What number do I need to order?  What number do you use?

Thanks for the info.

Black River Smith,

The Lyman X-17 shellholder is for the 45-70 family of cases.  The Lyman X-22 shellholder is the standard 50-70 shellholder and is what is needed for the 56-50.  Any RCBS, Lee or other 50-70 shellholder should also work, if these others make 50-70 shellholders.  The Lyman is the one that I use.
