Buck has a mold that casts a 0.835 PP 45-75 bullet and Winchester sold Long Range Sharps 45-70 bullets that were cast 1:11 alloy.
So, I took my '74 Sharps adjustable PP mold: cast a few - wrapped a few and loaded one ...
Naked bullet:- 1:11 alloy
- 0.385 length and 446 diameter (cupped based)
- 252.3 - 252.9gr
Wrapped Bullet:- Three wraps - 0.003 Strathmore Tracing Paper
- 0.456 wrapped diameter
Loaded Cartridge:- 348 Resized Case
- CCI LR Primer
- 63.5gr Goex CTG
- 0.1" Compression
- 1/8" Felt Wad - Lubed with Pope's Bayberry Recipe
- Light Crimp
- COAL - 2.430 (will have to be fired as a single shot)
How do they shoot? Have no idea but will find out next time at the range
