Paper Patched 45-75 ...
« on: December 19, 2007, 10:53:12 PM »
Buck has a mold that casts a 0.835 PP 45-75 bullet and Winchester sold Long Range Sharps 45-70 bullets that were cast 1:11 alloy.
So, I took my '74 Sharps adjustable PP mold: cast a few - wrapped a few and loaded one ...

Naked bullet:
  • 1:11 alloy
  • 0.385 length and 446 diameter (cupped based)
  • 252.3 - 252.9gr

Wrapped Bullet:
  • Three wraps - 0.003 Strathmore Tracing Paper
  • 0.456 wrapped diameter

Loaded Cartridge:
  • 348 Resized Case
  • CCI LR Primer
  • 63.5gr Goex CTG
  • 0.1" Compression
  • 1/8" Felt Wad - Lubed with Pope's Bayberry Recipe
  • Light Crimp
  • COAL - 2.430 (will have to be fired as a single shot)

How do they shoot?  Have no idea but will find out next time at the range  ;)
Regards

If you only loaded one as long as you don't miss the target, the group should be real good. :D :D :D
