This is an FYI. As y'all know, the Cimarron / TTN '78 has been very popular in CAS. They run out of them every so often and there is a bit of a dry spell until another shipment comes in from China. I just noticed they are advertising an 1878 Deluxe Coach Gun, in stock with 20" and 26" barrels. These have checkering. But just so you know, it is not the same shotgun. These are made by Daudson in Pakistan. Cimarron has been selling Daudson hammerless shotguns for a few years now. I only ever saw a single prototype of the '78, at my last Shotshow in 2017. That gun was case colored, but I don't think this new one is. The bluing was very nice, more polish than the Chinese guns and the wood looked nicer. I don't think the hammers were as close together as the Chinese gun. Anyway, I haven't seen this new first batch myself. And nobody has used one in CAS, so at this time it is sort of an unknown as to its quality and usefulness. Appears to be about $150 more than the Chinese gun which is model 1878CG. The new Deluxe '78 model numbers start with "DA". I will look forward to reports from users. And BTW, Cimarron does still have Chinese '78's on order, so there may be a choice.
