I don't own an '87 but you might mention how long are the shells?  Are they Magtechs?

Here's hoping someone will record the "goings on" for posterity and those attending vicariously.
Looking forward to the photo's :)
I'll see what I can do.

Shoot WB simultaneously with your monthly matches a couple times a year. Everyone shoots the same targets only WB shooters shoot twice as much. And have twice the fun. ‘’Give’em hell ,Pike!’’

Deacon,
The only good N Frame barrels I have are those two 1950 barrels which are not "pencil" profiles and a 6 1/2" barrel that came off of a Model 27.  I do have at least two K-Frame model 10 barrels (4 inch), one might be a model 15 barrel.

The 1917 barrel that I have somewhere was replaced because if actually had a swell in it about 2/3rds the way down. You don't want it.  We suspect someone shot a squib and then another on top of it.  It shows how strong an N-Frame is...of course it was probably a low pressure target load.  It was a gun show purchase and he didn't realize it for some time. It was a refinished gun because it was parkerized, I have no idea if it was an arsenal rebuild or someone had it done later, it wasn't pitted or anything, just a bad barrel (and I had to replace the hand).  That was the first gun I ever put a zinc phosphate finish on, it's actually pretty easy, you just have to plug the bore and chambers (some people don't).

Shotguns / Anyone have any problems with Brass shells in 87 ?

Howdy Gents
Today I got to make a very short test with my new Cimarron 1887 Lever gun. I tried roll crimped paper shells first. I had 2 or 3 that I had 'jiggle' the lever a bit to make em chamber. I think I need just a tiny bit more taper/roll crimp on them. Otherwise it was slick and fun. Then I tried the 12ga. brass shells and it would not feed at all. They were too long. They are longer by quite a bit over the roll crimped paper shells. So I guess I will shorten 10 of them [ to start] to the same length as the paper shells are loaded and roll crimped and see if that solves the problem. Have any of you had this problem with the brass 12 ga. shells in the 87's?
Thanks.......Macon

Scotty, I'm going to claim a half victory. My estimates on temp. are pretty close. On rain not so much. The forecast as of 17:50 today is- rain all day on Fri. clearing about 7 or 8 on Sat. morning and rain Sat. evening and all day Sun. With that forecast in mind, Sunday Funday will be happy fire, no organized match. We have made plans to accommodate the weather for meals. Ken and I will still be at the range Fri. afternoon, we'll make plans when everyone is there. Conditions might not be the best, but the camraderie will be ;D

Al, I like your weather forecast better than the professional's, I sure hope they're wrong!
